Really huh? That's quite the surprise. The desperation with DLC is definitely the only significant downside of Arise for me, even with how much the overall production values have improved that's inexcusable. As far as Tales of games go, it's got to be one of the - if not the - best one yet for me. Certainly the most well-rounded and fully-realized in just about all aspects.

The removal of stupid BS achievements is also such a pleasant shift for a franchise that has been full of nonsense ones ever since reaching the PS3/360 era. For a completionist like myself who has completed all of those entries, that's such a big plus.

They are really cute together and on their own, and the only ones to stay with you the entire trilogy, so makes sense!!

Ugh so I wasn't seeing things... I got into the room and like 'oh god this thing is going faster I WASN'T READY'

Thanks! I never got an Xbox One, but I really enjoyed the Xbox 360. So I'm excited to experience a new generation with Xbox and get some of the Xbone games I missed out on.

How hard is the platinum? I'm really enjoying it so I think I'll want to go for it!

I'm hoping that making a backup account with a trial of gold and boosting with myself will make that grind easier. Apparently it will take over 10+ hours.

"getting my ass handed to me by the first boss is fun" That boss fight confirmed that I made a wise decision in not going for the Hard difficulty in a series that's known to be tough. I almost went for it, despite the "full of danger and hardships" and "exceptional challenge" warnings.

On another note, I hope you've been enjoying Arise as well!

It's a tough choice! I honestly like all 3 of them. Chimchar's definitely my favorite, because he rocks half of the Gyms by himself and can take on a good chunk of Team Galactic.

I'll keep an eye out for when the prices drop on Arise. I have so many Tales games but I've barely played any of them. I loved Vesperia on 360, one of my favorite RPGs, but Abyss on 3DS put such a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't felt obligated to play the others. Graces is really fun though, I'm enjoying getting back into that game after such a long time.

Yes, my friends and I had the same experience with Halo 4! Thank god, because without all of those unlocking it would have been so much more painful. Seeing the message "it appears you have lost connection to Xbox live" even though the console was still connected was so aggravating. The game also tended to forget you had the DLC installed and would boot you out of a search because you "didn't have the correct DLC." Kinda sad that a Halo game devolved into this!

I finished ODST today, so only a handful more things in 4, and then that dreaded Wars grind.

I'm glad that being a father is just about everything I ever wanted. I'll admit, though, that FFVIIR raises a LOT of questions that an 8-year-old doesn't need answers to yet, especially Wall Market, so... might play something else in front of him instead.

Yeah - I'll have to start following retailers in 2022. Holidays have enough money sinks without it.

There's a lot to like with Astria. The graphics and music are both masterfully done. I want a number of songs from the OST for my listening pleasure, so I'll look for that eventually. The battle mechanics and gameplay are fairly standard - kind of "Diet Octopath" in a way, so they are good overall. Advancement using the Ascension Trees is addicting and a lot of fun, especially once you can get SP and Stat Orbs easily (I haven't found a reason to farm them so far, but if you want to max everyone out you'll probably have to at some point).

The side-quests are very fetch-y for the most part. You can get some cool stuff from them, though, so they're worth doing, although the map UI isn't very intuitive for helping with them. The exploration areas at first look cool but have dull layouts, though later ones have some fun mechanics and puzzles.

The biggest downsides for Astria are the plot and characters, sadly. The plot is very disjointed and there isn't much that's explained - almost as if there was supposed to be another game before this, or maybe a manual or something that talks about everything. It's difficult to get invested in the story, at least for me. The characters suffer from the same issues - there isn't much backstory about them besides some flashbacks, and nothing really endears me to them. Three of the characters have racist jerk tendencies, and one of them is just annoying outside of combat. The other 4 are fine, but kind of bland. As tragedies happened to them, I found myself really wanting to care, but not being able to. It's almost Reverse Octopath - they're all together for a purpose and interact with each other, but none of the characters are interesting.

Also the Switch version freezes A LOT. So for your sake, I'm glad you didn't get that one. Hopefully your version is better, but I'd still save often (like, I'm saving every time I enter a new room just in case; that's how bad it can get).

In short, it's a fun game overall, but doesn't have what I really look for in games (an intriguing plot and interesting characters). I would recommend it if you like building characters, battling, and exploring. I had a good time, but I don't know if I'll play it again after this, and I'm looking forward to the next game I play (Brilliant Diamond, of course ).

So. I've almost completed Astria, I think. Let me know if you want my thoughts.

PS5 was a scam, sadly. Haven't gotten it, and lost $500. Ugh. Guess I'm on the lookout again, and will be buying it from a store if at all possible so that I know I'll get it. For now, Arise sits.

Hey! Thanks for the comment, I hope you have been well. How's Tales of Arise? How does it compare with the others you have played?

Yes, going for all the achievements in 360 Halo has been no easy feat! I already had Halo 1 Anniversary and Halo 3 done a long time ago. But a few of my IRL friends and I have been getting together every other weekend and working on them. We don't have to deal with random boosting people cause we all have multiple copies and consoles so it has been a really fun experience. It's kind of like a LAN party, but working together for achievements. Halo 4's servers almost broke us though. That game is wretched. Halo Wars will probably be the make it or break it point as I'm running out of time to finish that one!

Hey Tony! I was taking a bit of a discord break, but decided to come back. You can add me again Kanji#1155. I have been watching you via PlayStation and see you're playing Tales of Arise and Persona 5 Royal.

I found 3 out of the 4. Innocence R looks like it's still in the works.

I'll probably play those 3 next year when I have some downtime between releases.

Nope! I sent you a friend request on my Swtich just now tho so it'll be there whenever you get the chance to accept. I think I naturally assumed we were friends on there since we'd added each other on PSN forever ago, lol. That and I'm just terrible at keeping up with people in general.
