SO excited, I can't wait to relive that experience. I've been wanting to do so since Automata came out. How about you?

Hey
Caught a glimpse of you’re A2 icon on Andryu’s BL page and have to say I’m loving the Androids theme!

I’m currently playing through Automata again due to loosing my save data on PC recently, but it’s honestly been a great excuse to get back into the world again before Replicant releases at the end of the month can’t wait to experience the original story myself as a new fan of the series!

That's true, it is probably going to be a lot harder to unsync after Endwalker. I'm kinda worried about being able to go back get some mounts I missed from extreme Trials and maybe even gear from old raids, but it is a lot of work! Doing all of the relics is a massive task indeed, although it does sound pretty satisfying in the end. I might just make at least one more ARR weapon before 6.0 hits. I actually really enjoy doing the HW relics the most, I have a ton of the items stockpiled to make a bunch more of those just not quite sure when I'll do that. I'm definitely getting back into the game for the April update so that might be a good time.

I haven't done Eureka at all. I tried back on launch but just didn't understand it and it seemed really tedious. I might be willing to give it another shot. Even Bozja stuff confused me. Having playing XI since then, it does seem kinda similar to how things used to be grinded back then, so I could probably figure it out now and willing to give it another go.

Thanks about the theme and good luck with your grinding!

Wow, your doing ARR relics? That's so cool. I had a fun doing them back in the day. I thought about going back and doing more just for the glamour. Nice theme btw!~

They do make a good duology, I agree: 2 wild extremes, and the right mind will see a message of walking the middle path, like the buddha, Siddartha Gautama teaches us. Those were the days, though; every game had to completely reinvent the wheel, or it was derivative trash. Push that envelope by following the same formula as everyone else: overdeveloped minor characters, obligatory plot twist, message that isn't as deep as it makes itself out to be, and change absolutely everything about everything every time. It's like how anti-conformists are just like conformists, and chained to the same set of societal norms, even if they're just doing the opposite. In a way, I'm glad that that's over, but on the other hand, today's gaming landscape has a brand new set of problems.

Welp, I figured out what's been bothering me so much about Bioshock's writing: the extremism. In Infinite (at least, thus far) the message seems to be "Racism BAD". Now, I fully agree, but it paints racism in such extremes that it makes it easier to think of racism in only that way, and that subverts any movement going against the more subtle, systemic racism we have now. Are there still people who'd want to brutalize an interracial couple? Sure, we've got pockets of that, but if we think of it as only that, it's much easier to believe things like, "Oh, all races have it pretty good, now; they should stop whining and appreciate what they have," and that's pretty fucking dangerous. Other than that, it seems pretty decent - if extremely linear - as a turn-your-brain-off-and-shoot-stuff type of game, even if I'm not terribly thrilled that I can only hold 2 weapons at a time. Money seems to be really limited, too; I very rarely have enough to buy upgrades when they come up, so I've been prioritizing. I guess that's my fault, though; the other BioShock games did this with Adam, and I just need to get my stupid brain to recognize that it's doing the same thing with a single currency now.

First of all, sorry you got dragged into that unpleasantness below; there was no excuse for that.

In any case, I've finished BioShock 2, and overall, I think I'd give it the same rating as the first game, but a steadier one; fewer ups and downs, but same total. The topics explored lent themselves more to moral debate, but instead of debating the validity of the values, they led a smear campaign against the person professing them. The takeaway was that Sophia Lamb was crazed and willing to do anything to achieve her ideals, but that doesn't discredit the ideals, themselves. One of the logs has Eleanor saying that they're corrupt, and that her mother would sooner see the entire world miserable than to give everyone a chance to make it work for themselves, but there is no lead-up to this; no revelation of how she reached this conclusion. There's the debate of free will, and that's fair, but when you see what humanity has done with that free will over the millennia, it's easy to understand why Sophia wasn't opposed to robbing them of such a thing.

As for Infinite, I go into most everything with tempered expectations; any hype I might have before playing something is my own, based on gameplay I've seen or something of the like. I have very strange taste in most things, and games are no exception; I really like Deadly Towers and Godzilla: Monster of Monsters, but I hate Shadow of Colossus and Kingdom Hearts. I think the most I'm excited here is to be able to run around in a city in the sky; I've loved sky islands ever since I first got my hands on the first Lufia.
The weight of the world.
