I am Setsuna is incredibly bland and if you skip it then you won't miss out on anything important. It mixes systems from popular classic RPGs. There are ATB bars, from Final Fantasy. Character positions and enemy placements matter, as in Lunar or Grandia. There is a Tech/Combo system, as in Chrono Trigger. You have slots and “materia”, as in FF7. In the end few of these systems matter and the whole thing comes off as an homage to better games.

If you want to play a "old school" RPG then there are better alternatives. Despite being negative on this game, I'm still curious about Lost Sphere. The Switch is a great system for RPGs now that the output for 3DS is winding down.

You took the words right out of my mouth, really. Repetitive, too long for its own good, too many anime clichés (the story and characters are even a worse offender than the first game), messy class system, and so on. I dropped it last year and I started it again about three weeks ago and here I am, seriously considering dropping VC 2 for the second time.

I already can tell the armored knight is the main character's big bro or something like that

Maybe I'll beat some other game for the time being. It's not like I'm short of stuff to play.

Some of the stages I've seen have attracted me as well, part of why I'm fairly curious on trying the game. That's really good they didn't overdo what they always did on the games I kept away from, I think they're relearning! The platforming bit sounds like a revival of the classic games; you couldn't beat them just by going fast, you'd just get yourself killed quickly.

Well that is unfortunate, though I think that's something I sadly expect of Sega nowadays is that they put more effort into what's on the side than the actual game itself. I'll definitely be picking it up, the question is when. Probably very far into the future as the game is in the very back of my mind. I'm working on my SNES and Genesis collection a bit while also saving up for a CIB version of Final Fantasy III for SNES as well. Thank you for letting me know though, I'm glad to hear it's worth a buy.

Sounds legit, I'm pretty interested in playing that. I've always been one of those people that favored the Genesis games and kinda sneered at the 3D games, but this one looks like it might satisfy me. Thank you! I love it too. XD

Very nice. Lufia Curse of the Sinistrals. One of the most underrated games on the DS. I still like the original more but the way they turned it into an action RPG was also quite awesome. Hope you enjoy.

Well thank ya sir! I'm loving your theme as well, Final Fantasy VI is quite possibly my favourite of the series. The tale of the two brothers, Cyan... guh. So good.

Also lovely to run into another Canuck on here.

Added you to my multi-tap to keep a stalker level eye on your progress. Quite the impressive collection you have here my friend.

Easy, fun and addictive. It's the easiest SRPG I've ever played (in fact I've seen just one game over screen in the whole game and I'm in the endgame missions). I'm starting to think you don't even need to grind to beat it.

It's a lot more forgiving than any Fire Emblem, Super Robot Taisen or the original Final Fantasy Tactics which means you don't have to repeat the same stage over and over again. The story is okayish but it has some awesome moments, the OST is good [Link] and the graphics are beautiful, it's a level 5 game so expect a nice cell shading.

JdA is a nice orginal PSP game (not remake/port), try it, it's one of those fun games that are neither a cakewalk nor extremely hard. It's not a groundbreaking experience but what it does, it does it right and with a few flaws.

Thanks for educating me on GOG - I'm checking out the site now. When I think of DOS games, I immediately think of my favorite, which is Day of the Tentacle. Ever play it? Thanks for the kind words on my Nintendo collection - I tried my best to put together all of the Must Have games. After that, I turned to some of the japanese translations that appeared to be awesome too (for the most part, I gauge things based on gamefaqs.com ratings, oh, and I used rpgclassics.com to figure out which Japanese translations might be out there). Sooo glad I found a game called Just Breed on NES. If you ever get a chance - play it.

Now, I have some good news about Warcraft 2. Surely you know of Battle.net edition. I found this site [Link] where you download the Combat edition, for free, and it just runs on a different server. I have personally used it, and it's great! Unfortunately, the crowd there tends to be on the immature side, which is why I'm trying to locate other people to play it with. Interested?

Greetings! I just realized what the category "Good Old Games" was for, and I thought I'd ask if you happen to play Warcraft 2, Starcraft, Rise of Nations, or Diablo 2? I recently had an urge to play some of those older ones again, and I'm looking to find a few people to play with.
No. Mr. Thou is THAT one. Over THERE!
