Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I'm in Halifax working the new job now, so I'm enjoying some pretty mild weather and salty ocean breezes. It's been hard to follow the Canucks run, I was staying up until 1:30 AM to see the games last week haha. Unfortunately they finally did go down, but I appreciated their fight to stay in it. Vegas is a really good team and the Canucks weren't even supposed to make it out of the bottom five teams in the league this year. So overall pretty happy with the season and the quality of hockey in the bubble! The lack of contributions to the anti-racism response was a bit disappointing as you said. They did something eventually, which was nice, but it didn't seem voluntary and more driven by the players and
it seemed the league was acting as a response to backlash rather than out of support.

I think, if the consoles don't sell out everywhere, I'm simply going to sell/trade in my Xbox One S and use the credit for a Series X. Should take a bit off the price up front and with Microsoft's generous backwards compatibility program I literally don't need my One S. I almost can't believe how convenient they've made it to upgrade, which is something I can't really say for Nintendo this time around haha. They did a great job from Gamecube to Wii and Wii to WiiU, but then totally abandoned it. I get that the Switch has a different media format, but now that most things are going digital I can't believe that any of the big guys can get away with making you start from scratch with your collection every time again. Them's the old ways. The idea that you have one collection that just follows you is so appealing to me. I get that some people might be worried about just losing access one day, but it doesn't bother me. There are honestly so few games that I ever go back and replay in their original formats. Not only do I not have time to replay games when there's so much new stuff I want to experience, but when I do want to go back there's literally always a way to access them (whether virtual console, remakes/re-releases, ports, emulators, HD collections, backwards compatibility, etc.). I've gotten by without owning music or movies or TV shows for the past 10 years and haven't had any issues, so *shrug*

How have you been enjoying the NHL bubble? I guess I was wrong on pretty much all fronts. Looks like they're pulling it off really well, and the games have been more competitive and intense than I ever thought they'd be.

So, I got Game Pass. RIP my backlog...Been playing some fun games though that I might not have ever tried otherwise! It's not that different from what I used to do, except that I used to just scroll through the sales each week and buy $10-$15 worth of games that I'll probably never touch. Now I can just grab it and go. If it sucks, I delete it with no harm done. If it's cool, I play it through and if it comes off GamePass and I want to keep going I can buy it then. It honestly might change my collector ways and finally get me to give up buying so many games and actually play some.

Hey quick question, how long did it take you to Platinum Skyrim? I was planning on doing it but after just beating the game and only sitting at 20%, I'm worried I may burn myself out pushing to go for all the trophies right now. I might just save the DLC and the rest of the quests for a return play.

Really awesome game though, can't believe it took me this long to actually see the main story through.

Glad to hear your doing well. Honestly, for me 2020 can't end soon enough but maybe this year's problems will carry over into the next one so who knows when things will go back to normal. Apologies if we talked about it before but... So your located in Canada? That's really cool, I have a couple of other friends from there. I'm located in TN, which is southeast in the US. Actually want to move close to Canada on the Washington state line eventually, but that's a dream of my wife and I later on down the line.

Our school starts tomorrow and it's opening like normal, with no mask mandate or anything. We decided to put our kids through online school this year given the current situation, and my fear that schools will shut down once the virus begins spreading through them... It's just not a state I want to put them through.

Good luck with your dream PC! Hopefully you'll get to finish it soon enough. Oh thanks about the theme! It's just something I threw together on this laptop we are using for schooling. My PC arrives tomorrow, so I can't wait to make something more elaborate on Photoshop. Curse of the Moon 2 is AMAZING, you must check it out!! It takes everything great about the original and amplifies it. Definitely want to go for all the endings with this one like I did the original. I remember you telling me about how you backed RotN. I wish I had now because this series is something I have been wanting for years, since Castlevania became dormant.

Long time no see! Yeah my PC unfortunately bit the dust about a month ago. It was 7+ years old so it was only a matter of time. I got a couple of laptops for online schooling for my kids this year and also got a Ryzen for my own personal gaming. Getting it monday!

So excited to dive hardcore into PC gaming. The PC I'm getting is capable of running a lot of high end games so I've got a lot of plans for it.

ALSO! Great to see this classic theme return, it always makes me feel at home here. I updated my backlog with what I've been playing btw.

I heard a little about the PS5 reveal, but I definitely watched the Village trailer. I'm so excited. I have no idea how Capcom is pumping these amazing games out one after another year after year, but I'm not complaining! I'm ready to be terrified.

On the one hand, I want hockey to be back so bad. On the other hand, I'm worried it's going to be incredibly lame to watch neutral site games with no fans. But ultimately, I honestly don't think they're going to complete the season. I can't imagine they have any protocol for what happens when a player tests positive (which they will) in the middle of a series. Do you have to quarantine the whole team? Pause the series for two weeks? And if somehow only that one player from one team tests positive and everyone else dodged it, you now have to sit that player out I'm assuming. Which is fine if it's Jay Beagle, but what about Sidney Crosby? Will players and teams lie about test results for star players? I think it's going to be an absolute shitshow.

And I'd definitely recommend Control! Having finished it now, I'd say it's overall a pretty satisfying package. Interesting story and premise, well built world, fun combat. The movement mechanics could have used a bit of tweaking and I don't love the way one of the powers in particular worked. Tons of cool secrets though, and opportunities for sequels and spin offs in a huge number of genres or styles or locations.

Tally ho! Your right, I'm glad we got such a good sale that helps get my summer going. As for the differences in Royal, it's very robust. There's a ridiculous amount of changes and new additions that make it even feel like a new game. Just more icing upon one of the greatest JRPG's of all time. The price is fully justifiable, that's the one thing I was unsure of at first.

I started the Persona series with P3 FES on PS2. I've played pretty much every one of them since, but I've never gone back and played P1 or 2. I do enjoy the SMT games as well. I was there for Strange Journey, Digital Devil Saga and SMTIV.

Glad it's getting the spotlight it deserves. Did you see P4G JUST released on Steam for $20?? I really need a Switch/PS4 port but if it's exclusive there I will check it out. (I miss my Vita)

Send help.

Lol seriously. Was so shocked to see P5R, FFVIIR and RE3 on sale already. It's like why even buy games new. I got God of War for next to nothing! Thinking about grabbing Spiderman before the sale ends.

Second time playing P5. I never beat the original but got pretty far. Always wanted to go back to it but once Royal got announced I knew that was the way to go. Probably like the greatest JRPG ever, can't believe it has even more content now.

I played Minecraft Dungeons with my kids as well. We had a really good time lol. I started to annoy them with all the Minecraft questions. "Why are we killing the sheep, again?" followed by "You don't get it dad."

Last of Us Part 2, you lucky dude. I'm jealous! Control has been really good. A couple of random jumps in difficulty have been annoying, mostly because the load times are absolutely atrocious and the checkpoint system is a little old school and Dark Souls like, where you always spawn back at your last activated spawn point. The problem is that these are pretty spaced out, and aren't always along the path you need to go on for a particular fight. So when you die (sometimes very suddenly), you have a huge load to respawn, then another long load to fast travel to the area you were in when you died, then sometimes a bit of a trek to even get back to the right room. That gets frustrating when you get back there and then die again almost instantly because you haven't figured out the trick to the boss fight yet.

But overall the atmosphere, writing, and overall universe of the game is really phenomenal. Everything is grounded in the game world context, so it feels believable. They really sell the idea of a secret/not-secret government agency that investigates and deals with paranormal activities, and a lot of the notes and presentations kind of hint not only at some of the very cool events they might have investigated (some nods to other games and also real world folklore), but also how it's still just an office. It's a department like any other, with mundane office politics and relationships and lives outside of work. Also, grabbing random shit around the environment and flinging it at high speed across the room and devastating enemies is so satisfying. Definitely the first thing I invested ability points in.

I think all of the Final Fantasy games are on Xbox One at this point (other than remake). But like you said, the Switch is a better choice. What's kept me away has been my general dislike of random battles and heavy grinding. The Switch makes it easier to do that boring stuff while focusing on a show or hockey game (RIP hockey..), but I still haven't taken the plunge. It might be time?

Yeah I'm gonna indulge in some serious donairs and garlic fingers. Maybe they'll be enjoyed through the comfort of my own home but still. Same with the many awesome breweries.

What a game for your 100th platinum! Congrats! I don't think I even have 100 completed games (the one thing Xbox is lacking is no cool name for getting all the achievements! You can't even call them 1000g anymore because so many games have way more than 1000 gamerscore available). How did the remake stack up to the original? I never played the OG FF7, but I'm hoping that the remake will eventually make it's way to XboxOne/Series X.

No worries! My week was pretty hectic as well. I also keep getting sucked back into XIV, which isn't a bad thing but does delay progress in VII.
