Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I heard a little about the PS5 reveal, but I definitely watched the Village trailer. I'm so excited. I have no idea how Capcom is pumping these amazing games out one after another year after year, but I'm not complaining! I'm ready to be terrified.

On the one hand, I want hockey to be back so bad. On the other hand, I'm worried it's going to be incredibly lame to watch neutral site games with no fans. But ultimately, I honestly don't think they're going to complete the season. I can't imagine they have any protocol for what happens when a player tests positive (which they will) in the middle of a series. Do you have to quarantine the whole team? Pause the series for two weeks? And if somehow only that one player from one team tests positive and everyone else dodged it, you now have to sit that player out I'm assuming. Which is fine if it's Jay Beagle, but what about Sidney Crosby? Will players and teams lie about test results for star players? I think it's going to be an absolute shitshow.

And I'd definitely recommend Control! Having finished it now, I'd say it's overall a pretty satisfying package. Interesting story and premise, well built world, fun combat. The movement mechanics could have used a bit of tweaking and I don't love the way one of the powers in particular worked. Tons of cool secrets though, and opportunities for sequels and spin offs in a huge number of genres or styles or locations.

Tally ho! Your right, I'm glad we got such a good sale that helps get my summer going. As for the differences in Royal, it's very robust. There's a ridiculous amount of changes and new additions that make it even feel like a new game. Just more icing upon one of the greatest JRPG's of all time. The price is fully justifiable, that's the one thing I was unsure of at first.

I started the Persona series with P3 FES on PS2. I've played pretty much every one of them since, but I've never gone back and played P1 or 2. I do enjoy the SMT games as well. I was there for Strange Journey, Digital Devil Saga and SMTIV.

Glad it's getting the spotlight it deserves. Did you see P4G JUST released on Steam for $20?? I really need a Switch/PS4 port but if it's exclusive there I will check it out. (I miss my Vita)

Send help.

Lol seriously. Was so shocked to see P5R, FFVIIR and RE3 on sale already. It's like why even buy games new. I got God of War for next to nothing! Thinking about grabbing Spiderman before the sale ends.

Second time playing P5. I never beat the original but got pretty far. Always wanted to go back to it but once Royal got announced I knew that was the way to go. Probably like the greatest JRPG ever, can't believe it has even more content now.

I played Minecraft Dungeons with my kids as well. We had a really good time lol. I started to annoy them with all the Minecraft questions. "Why are we killing the sheep, again?" followed by "You don't get it dad."

Last of Us Part 2, you lucky dude. I'm jealous! Control has been really good. A couple of random jumps in difficulty have been annoying, mostly because the load times are absolutely atrocious and the checkpoint system is a little old school and Dark Souls like, where you always spawn back at your last activated spawn point. The problem is that these are pretty spaced out, and aren't always along the path you need to go on for a particular fight. So when you die (sometimes very suddenly), you have a huge load to respawn, then another long load to fast travel to the area you were in when you died, then sometimes a bit of a trek to even get back to the right room. That gets frustrating when you get back there and then die again almost instantly because you haven't figured out the trick to the boss fight yet.

But overall the atmosphere, writing, and overall universe of the game is really phenomenal. Everything is grounded in the game world context, so it feels believable. They really sell the idea of a secret/not-secret government agency that investigates and deals with paranormal activities, and a lot of the notes and presentations kind of hint not only at some of the very cool events they might have investigated (some nods to other games and also real world folklore), but also how it's still just an office. It's a department like any other, with mundane office politics and relationships and lives outside of work. Also, grabbing random shit around the environment and flinging it at high speed across the room and devastating enemies is so satisfying. Definitely the first thing I invested ability points in.

I think all of the Final Fantasy games are on Xbox One at this point (other than remake). But like you said, the Switch is a better choice. What's kept me away has been my general dislike of random battles and heavy grinding. The Switch makes it easier to do that boring stuff while focusing on a show or hockey game (RIP hockey..), but I still haven't taken the plunge. It might be time?

Yeah I'm gonna indulge in some serious donairs and garlic fingers. Maybe they'll be enjoyed through the comfort of my own home but still. Same with the many awesome breweries.

What a game for your 100th platinum! Congrats! I don't think I even have 100 completed games (the one thing Xbox is lacking is no cool name for getting all the achievements! You can't even call them 1000g anymore because so many games have way more than 1000 gamerscore available). How did the remake stack up to the original? I never played the OG FF7, but I'm hoping that the remake will eventually make it's way to XboxOne/Series X.

No worries! My week was pretty hectic as well. I also keep getting sucked back into XIV, which isn't a bad thing but does delay progress in VII.

I spent a long time in RE2 in that safe room under the stairs (the photo development area), peaking out the door listening to the footsteps trying to figure out which way the fucker was headed. I still feel tense just thinking about it haha.

So their next game after was Man of Medan? I heard it was okay but not great, but at least it's multiplatform so I can still play it once I return the PS4. Did they do any other stuff?

And yeah, moving cross country during a pandemic is turning out to be pretty stressful, but I'm excited to get to live in Halifax for a year! Experience those donairs on the regular.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Cid and Vincent in action. Cid because he's my favorite, and Vincent because can you imagine those transformations in this battle setting?

Hopefully Cait Sith is actually worth using in this one. I usually just get him, grab his Lv2 Limit Break, then leave him alone forever.

Yeah, maybe I'm just stuck on what SOLDIER was depicted as in Crisis Core. That was pre-FFVII, but I guess I didn't expect the SOLDIER operatives to have changed much in that short of a timespan. Ah well - I didn't make the game, so I'll let it be.

I'm still pretty early on, but I'm enjoying myself! I like the added plotstuffs to the Avalanche folks and deeper storyline, and the music and graphics of course are incredible. I like the weapon improvement features as well.

I'm not a huge fan of some of the new characters, especially that SOLDIER character who feels more like Zagi from Tales of Vesperia than anything that would belong in this world (like, you're actively in SOLDIER, you shouldn't be fighting your Shinra employers). The controls out-of-battle can be a bit clunky at times too, but overall aren't too bad.

I'll be sure to provide more of my thoughts as I continue in the game!

Yeah, I'm excited to play it! I love that kind of game.

I really liked RE3. I think I like RE2 better, but I love how replayable they both are. The presentation was incredible, just a crazy good looking game. The dodge mechanic is a beautiful addition that I imagine is going to make going back to RE2 a bit more difficult. My biggest complaint I think is that, for all the bluster, Nemesis wasn't actually as scary as Mr. X was. I think it's mostly because Nemesis was so in your face that you had no choice but to face him, and he was actually pretty limited in the areas where he would appear. Whereas Mr. X was roaming the halls semi-randomly while you still had shit to do all over the police department. Nemesis only really appeared when you had completed an objective and just needed to book it from one area to another. If the city section was a bit bigger and more drawn out, so that the entire game was a little less linear and the Nemesis was more active, I think it would have had a bigger impact on me. Other than the fact that I know he'll fuck me up if I miss my grenade throw, I'm not really scored or bothered by Nemesis on my repeated playthroughs. While I still cringe every time Mr. X joins the game in RE2, never quite knowing where he is.
