Considering all the Frogger sequels Konami has made over the decades, I'm confident they've accidentally made one or two good ones. Unfortunately, Hyper Arcade Edition isn't one of them. [Link]

I'm with you on that! Fortunately, the recent sale has dropped it down to about $12 and I can say the game, while not perfect, is much better and more stable than at launch. It's faster to load, runs at 60 FPS, and feels better than I remembered! The Jade Ghost Wisp is also less shoehorned in than I expected and adds new sections of level design, both to increase replay value, and skip over some parts of slower-paced levels. I think I'd rank it an 8/10. Most of my complaints were either nitpicks, like sound effects not consistently playing for some things or Starlight Carnival's color palette looking duller than it used to.

The only major complaints I have with Colors Ultimate partially stem from issues I had with the original release not being fixed, such as the Double Jump and Homing Attack being on the same button, which led to some collectibles being a pain. The Homing Attack ALWAYS takes priority over the Double Jump, which gets frustrating at times, and I was really hoping there would be an option to separate the two, but no such luck. The other issue I have is that they didn't fix the audio issue from the base game with Eggman's PA Announcements. Despite Colors having my least favorite Sonic script (until we got Lost World), the PA Announcements were the one thing I could always count on for a good laugh, but they're just as hard to hear as they were before.

Honestly, for the price it's at now, I think it's a worthwhile experience. I think enough has been improved that I'm willing to stick with this over the original release, though I admit I don't have much attachment to the game prior to my recent playthrough, which I had a shockingly good time with! I think Colors holds up better than I remembered. It's not clearing any of my favorites, but it's still fun!

Onechanbara on sale? A LIKELY STORY.

I recall that game having a fascinating combat system involving blood accrual. Curious to see what you think.

I played Half-Life: Source not too long ago, and only played Portal and Portal 2 as an "adult". Shortly after playing Half-Life Source, I also played Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and Episode 2. Of those, the only ones I had not played previously were Blue Shift and Episode 2, all others I played (or even finished) before... and it was definitely nice to replay them. I also do not have the time to replay games, to be honest, and yet I am doing exactly that with Resident Evil, Resident Evil Zero, and some others...

I guess my "what do I replay" choices come from: do I feel like I have enough memories of this game I played as a child to do my own "mature" review of it? If yes, no need to replay, if no, I replay the game.

Also, for some games, as someone who is also interested in the history of videogames, I would like to see "where the game comes from". I played Jedi Academy in my youth, but never played Dark Forces, Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast. I really wanna play those games now, and then replay Jedi Academy, and see how that changes (or does not change) my liking of the game. I have actually a lot of these projects in mind: just like you are going for some PlayStation goodness, so do I wanna experience some "famous" franchises in "chronological order". Resident Evil is the obvious one, but I also wanna go for Megaman, Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest, Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc....

I will never do all of them, but I certainly will not get bored in my life anytime soon.

I am going through Resident Evil Zero now, just arrived at the Training Facility, and after that I will probably either play Resident Evil 4 directly, or do a Super Mario Galaxy 2 intermission. I will see. I feel very motivated to also go through those Mario games I did not play, because I really wanna try out Super Mario Bros. Wonder. But since Mario and Resident Evil share the same console, and I really dislike the whole disc swapping thingy, I tend to only ever play one game on one piece of hardware, PC excluded, because most games are digital... for all the good and bad that brings with it...

I also think, they will probably not remake Resident Evil Code Veronica. I mean, they just skipped it with RE4 after RE3, so... maybe they will at some point, but not now. Or maybe a side-team or something. Who knows. CapCom is really hard to read these days...
