A very rare Switch (originally PSP) VN that I got for a decent price from Play-Asia. Reminds me strongly of 999 or Ever17. Definitely playing this.

I'll likely buy this game now that I have the first one, as Mitsuda helped on the soundtrack here as well. The SH series seems interesting, too.

Hey TUMF, long time!

Yes. I think I got everything I wanted. There could be a niche game I didn't realize existed at the time, but barring that possibility I did manage to pick up all the games that I was interested in. I didn't get all the DLC though. Ah well~ Did you grab everything you wanted?

I did see it with my hubby. We both really enjoyed it. Jack Black as Bowser STOLE the show IMO! But I definitely appreciated a cool Peach too. If they make another one, I want more Luigi! We also thought it was interesting that they went back to the old USA-only canon for the Bros. Curious if Nintendo is going to pull a Zelda and have two timelines. The Yoshi Island timeline and the SMB USA canon timeline. LMAO. . Toad also gave me Captain Toad vibes! Animation was well done too. How did you find it?

Yes! That’s one of the best things about the Series X, you can play a lot of games all the way back from the original Xbox on it. It’s only select games, but you can put the old disk in there and it will download a version of the game to your console, often with 4K support, and will sometimes even have improvements like FPS boost. They still sell a bunch of the old games on the store too, and are often on sale, even the OG Xbox and 360 stuff! Also Xbox version prices tend to be cheaper used online and at retro stores. As much as I like and prefer Nintendo and PlayStation, Xbox is taking backwards compatibility MUCH more seriously and making it better for game preservation.

If you like Japanese games, I would take a second look at the 360 library. While PS3 and Wii had much more for obvious reasons, there are some surprising exclusives on there. Xbone and Series X has also had good support from Square Enix, Capcom, and Sega, while others like Namco Bandai have been becoming more consistent with their support and RPG releases on there.

Wow that's impressive! How many complete collections do you have now? Are you aiming to finish all of those games or have you been aiming at primarily collecting?

I'm hoping to get a PS5 myself later this year, but I share the same opinion, not much of a reason at the moment, aside from 4k and better performance on some current games. I lucked into a Series X, which has been cool since I didn't have the Xbone, so it gives me a chance to catch up on some of the things I missed over there.

Yes! I took a break on playing through many SMT and Persona games years ago. But late last year I finally beat the SMT 4 games on 3DS. So this year I'm hoping to dig into Persona Q and Q2, along with the Persona 2 duology. I'm currently playing SMT 5, and it has been really fun. I took a slight break on it to attend to some gifts I received over the holidays (I try to prioritize playing gifts when received), and then I got sidetracked with some Tales and Pokemon games. But SMT V is my current priority! I'm 8 hours in and it is fantastic so far.

Yeah you’re not alone - I played Covenant first and was a bit confused, and the original did feel a bit more archaic in comparison, but I do prefer the straight-up dark tone and story of the original for sure. Koudelka sounds super interesting though, small casts and innovative battle systems never fail to intrigue me, even if they never reach the sum of their parts. I wouldn’t be surprised if I never get around to it due to my current schedule…

Oh wow, cool! Koudelka is one of those older games I always regretted never getting around to, because it looks so interesting in its unconventional-ness. I had no idea it was (mostly?) fully voice acted too! Good to hear the story and characters hold up too, since I’m sure that’d be the main drive to playing, considering I’ve heard the gameplay is a bit tedious and slow, as you mentioned. I’m always in for something a little on the weird side, so maybe I’ll bump it up on my queue…

Hope you like Shadow Hearts 2! It’s my personal favorite of the series, but it can be a bit... quirky, compared to the dark and rather serious atmosphere of the original (and presumably Koudelka).
If we can unstop a stop, we can stop the unstoppable!
