I listen to the GiantBombcast, and they talk extensively about Dark Souls... and even though I am fairly into masocore games like Meat Boy, the kind of self-destructive experience Dark Souls offers doesn't seem to be the best fit for me... I get easily annoyed with repetition in games, and that seems to be a huge point in the game.

BG2 is the best computer RPG I've ever played, and probably won't be topped ever imho. The game is endlessly replayable with dozens of different classes to make the main character; and too many companions to recruit in a single playthrough. Different alignments make for different experiences and there's so many sidequests. Pick it up, it's on sale at the moment with a bunch of other D&D RPGs at gog.com

Foremost, to get it to run on Windows 7 you definitely need the GOG.com version. No way around it. Even so, the odd graphic/sound glitch may pop up, and there are different issues that need to be solved in different ways, and you'll have to do some Googling to get things fixed.

So, is it worth it? Well, I'll be objective: yes. Very much so. Very few games in history have managed to combine as many merits as Baldur's II has. Its art direction is flawless, its story is both deep and non-linear at the same time (no small feat), you grow to care about the characters. Equipment is truly epic, in that you feel like most of them are a real conquest after facing a challenge, not just some store-bought item. It's a long, long, long game with more to do than one can grasp in a first playthrough.

Is it perfect? No, hell no. It has obvious flaws and certain mechanics that do not compare well to ones used in later RPGs (which all copy BG2 one way or another, though). But the thing is: overlooking them becomes a second nature, given how engrossed you are in the game itself.

If you have some 60+ hours of your life to dedicate to a game... well... I'd be hard-pressed to indicate you one that is better than this.

Pidin kyllä Bastionista kovasti. Olet oikeassa ettei itse pelimekaniikassa ole sinänsä mitään ihmeellistä, mutta kaikki toimii hyvin ja audiovisuaalinen toteutus on huippuluokkaa. Pelaan varmaan vielä toistamiseen New Game plussan merkeissä.

Prime 3:ssa tuo keräilyrumba on siinä mielessä toteutettu paremmin, että monet niistä... mitä siinä kerättiinkään, jotain akkuja?... kerättävistä on mahdollista poimia mukaan heti sitä mukaa kun ne löytää. Mutta koska ne on jemmattu melko hyvin samaan tapaan kuin muut ekstra kerättävät, ne on hyvin helppo jättää väliin minkä takia lopussa saakin sitten taas ravata tutuissa maisemissa. Olen samaa mieltä bosseista, viimeinen mukaan lukien, tosin putki-Ridley oli ihan hauska idea.

Xenoblade on ollut jo hyvän tovin tilauksessa, toivottavasti saapuu huomenna. En ole oikeastaan koskaan monolithin pelejä pelannut, mutta kaikki mitä olen lukenut ja nähnyt pelistä on perhanan houkuttelevaa. En ole mikään JRPG genren suurkuluttaja, mutta odotan tältä peliltä paljon. Mitä Last Storyyn tulee, eiköhän sekin tule kokeiltua. Teemakin näytti tältä alkuvuodesta [Link]

Niin ja tosiaan Lost Odyssey oli ihan mukiinmenevä pläjäys. Uematsu oli tulessa musiikkia säveltäessään, loistavia teemoja alusta loppuun.

Hyvinhän täällä näemmä on juhlatunnelmiin päästy! Ja jos sopii niin voidaan haastaa ihan tällä kotimaisella.

Chantelise on ihan hauska pikku peli. Suosittelen pelaamaan ohjaimella, se poistaa suurimmat kontrolliongelmat. Kamera, ja sen kautta lukitussysteemi, valitettavasti on mitä on ja sen kanssa pitää vain yrittää tulla toimeen. Noin yleisesti kuitenkin Chantelisea pelailee ihan ilokseen, mieluummin kuin Recettearin luolasto-osuuksia, ja se on myös jonkin verran vaikeampi. Kaupanpito jälkimmäisessä oli kuitenkin niin uskomattoman koukuttavaa että se voittaa kisan muuten. Käännös on yhtä hauskaa settiä molemmissa.

But it seems like BioWare really set out to smash the romances from the first game by changing the women up a lot, paving way for the new relationships. I hear you can continue to romance Liara on Shadow Broker (which I haven't started yet), but I am not really considering that option.

Anyway, as a game, Mass Effect 2 is an entirely different animal from 1... that bothered me for the first 10 hours, but eventually I learned to accept it for what it is. I am hoping against all hope that Mass 3 will combined the first and second game, creating a truly ultimate experience. BioWare says they'll do exactly that but... I am highly doubtful.

Aww, I completely forgot extra life this weekend... Oh well next year when I hopefully have my stream setup bought, I am surely going to participate.
