Thanks. That main dungeon is pretty annoying. I don't know how I did it but in order to it I had to go through it a lot more than is required. That was quite a while ago, though. The rest of the game is a lot better though, so if you can keep that though in your head you may be able to force yourself through the dungeon.

I don't know, my problem in that past was I was too keen to "deflower" a game. I would boot it up, play for an hour or so, think "that's pretty good" and then put it aside for later. Trouble is later on I would have to replay that first hour or two as you can't remember even the basic controls or story points by then. Worse was that because I had played it a little bit back in the day, it kind of took away from that freshness and excitement I should have playing it for the first time, and I didn't even get the nostalgia of going back to a game that I once loved/failed to beat.

That was just me though, but on balance these days I try (but don't always succeed) to leave the game until I know I can start playing it. Better to have a virgin on reserve than a sulky bitch complaining that I never call her anymore.

I love your "relationships" tags, that sums up my feelings for games perfectly. I may have to steal borrow that idea at some point.

Okay, I get the situation, for me it was quite the opposite; I began playing with the Amiga 500, but then stopped there for ages and only came closer to consoles in...1995 or so, playing Donkey Kong Country on my cousins SNES. I loved that game and this one, with some real great commercials on german tv for Mario 64 and the N64 in general, convinced me to get one myself.
My vg-love-story begins (or re-starts) on 22nd March 1998 with Wave Race 64...and then, well... it's a long story.

Aha i see,i usually play 2-3 intense games at once otherwise i'd get bored too quickly:i don't mind if they belong to the same genre but i need different settings and stuff.
It doesn't help that all the games you mentioned require a HUGE amount of hours too

FPS are not my favourite genre, but I like most of 'em and really feel sorry for not being able to finish GE for now. I absolutely have to ask one of my friends to let me borrow it.

I don't like collecathons as much as you, probably, but I loved the early Rare games for the N64, especially BK. After 007GE, DDKR, BC, BK they got a bit heavy on some other game, and somehow lost fresh ideas...
DK64, I'll never get tired by saying this, Orpheon can confirm it, has some really frustrating mini-games that were probably put in because they had no idea on how to challange the player otherwise.

YEah, they made some great stuff indeed. From Conker to Blast Corps, from DKC-series to the Banjo games. Last great game I played from Rare was StarFox Adventures. I really didn't buy any other Rare-game since, I really want to try some Grabbed by the Ghoulies as soon as I can, or Banjo-Kazooie - Grunty's Revenge on the GBA. But...they'll have to wait, for now!
