I adore it. Had a wicked fun time playing the Xbox 360 version, so things are flowing much better this time around. Forgot most of the game, and I've had a few hardware issues (odd graphics at times, and the game likes to lag when it loads...) but it's still a wicked solid experience.

I'm probably in the minority when I say I liked DA2 more than Origins...though I think part of that is because PS3 version (?) of Origins had some pretty insane frame drops, and it was a pain to get through it.

I liked the emphasis on linear-ish quests over the more open world approach that Origins took. Not really sure why. Maybe cause I just liked having the game tell me "okay, see this area? Here's the quests you need to do in it" versus Origins, which almost felt like there wasn't always a clear indication about where or when you needed to do quests.

Now, I haven't played Origins since probably 2012 (?), but if I went and played it right now on 360, not only would I likely enjoy it more for the better frame rate (I have no confirmation on this, but I'd have to assume it's better), but I'd probably be able to get more invested in the plot, gameplay, and characters. The combat in Origins definitely felt really weak; the DA2 combat is much better. I think part of the problem I had with DAO was that I tried to go back to it after a long period of time, and while I try to make it a point to make my notes something that would remind me where I am and what I was doing in an RPG, sometimes I forget, and then get confused, and usually start over afterwards because I have no clue what I'm doing.

That being said, I loved Inquisition. Would I like Origins more after playing it? Probably. Would I want to play DA2 again after it? Also probably. I'm really upset that I missed out on DAO on On The House on Origin. I'd love it if DAO and DA2 made it to Xbox One's 360 BC. Also Skyrim.

The easy part to explain is, yes the combat is definitely better.

The more complex part to explain would be how the game just "feels" to me. I knew going in to it that it was a LOT different from Origins. The plot of Origins never really grabbed me. Big evil thing arrives. Go on big epic quest to gather people to fight the thing. Kill the thing. I'm a hero. It didn't really do anything that I hadn't seen before. That and for whatever reason, I didn't find the characters particularly interesting. This is all mostly personal preference and I might be in the minority.

I'm not too far info DA2 yet but from what I've played, it feels a lot more... "focused" (If that makes any sense). I'm not some Chosen One who has to run around the world righting the wrongs of the people and vanquishing a Great Evil. I'm just a regular person who lost their home (from said Great Evil) and trying to make it in a new town. The smaller scale makes things feel more fleshed out. I like the characters better, with Varric and Merrill being my favorites so far.

I understand that a lot of people did not like the change in format from Origins to 2 so it kind of got a bad rap. From what I hear, Inquisition is more of a return to form so I am curious if I will even want to play it after finishing 2.

I'm still in Act 1 so I am not sure how much things will change in the later acts but I am definitely enjoying my time with it.

Hey Lyn, been meaning to ask, for importing your famicom stuff, do you mostly use eBay, or is there a sort of go-to place to find games?

Been wanting to pick up the Eggerland games with my impending Retron purchase

*Laughs* That is a VERY true point.

I think that would be rather exciting. Drum would have to build a lead going into Mario 64. And since you two have a physical copy and he would be playing on a N64, he wouldn't be that terrible on it. Not Try caliber, but at least good. But, as long as he has a big enough lead from the earlier games, then he would have a chance.

Though, they might be more even on the first...five games, so it really would be entirely unfair. But, it's an interesting format and one that I hope that at least gets put into the discussion for future streams. For this one, Drum is the heavy favorite going into Stream 2 & 3, but I still wouldn't rule Try out.
