Yeah, Ace Combat has never really been known for its "compelling story" (I think the only one that had a really good story was the Japanese version of Ace Combat 3, which they cut out of the US version, which I thought was lame). In any case, I played it pretty hardcore for a long time, doing extreme challenges like clearing the Pasternak duel with a shitty place or whatnot by the end of it, until I finally cleared Ace Mode and then dropped the game for bigger and better things (haven't played it since, unfortunately, although I might hit it up again in the coming months). And no, its not really as great a profession as one might think. Making your way up the ladder is pretty difficult, you don't really see the money you put into it pay off until much later down the road, and I'm nowhere near that point yet.

Oh? Playing AC6 eh? How are you enjoying it thus far? I personally got hundreds of hours out of it (might have something to do with the fact that I'm a pilot in real life...), didn't stop until I cleared Ace Mode once and for all.

Sadly, I haven't heard much criticism towards Famitsu over the years aside from the obvious "perfect score" debacle killing their apparent selective longevity. Instead, major news outlets seem bent on focusing solely towards the gaming announcements and 40/40 titles without a single breath of criticism otherwise towards them. I was fairly unaware that Street Fighter IV was given such a low score. What flaws exactly did they mention in their review? The DOA4 score is rather baffling given the lack of depth and high difficulty near the end. I'm guessing since it was one of the first next-gen launch titles and Tomonobu Itagaki's popularity at the time contributed towards a favorable review.

I'm sorry to hear that your PlayStation 3 is currently broken, but hopefully you'll be able to get it repaired rather soon. I'm still somewhat mind blown that Famitsu gave the X360 variant of Bayonetta a perfect score! But, isn't it safe now to take some credibility away from the magazine, particularly since they've handed out six perfect scores within the past two years alone? I don't know, but I'm starting to no longer consider them as being the most "selective" as they've originally been labeled by the gaming media.

I'm not exactly sure if you've heard the news but, despite initial reports, apparently the Japanese PS3 version of Bayonetta is indeed region-free and also includes English voice acting/subtitles. ( [Link] ) I know you've expressed more interest in the 360 version after recent criticisms towards faults in the PS3 variation; however, I felt that you should probably take note of this detail in case you're interested in importing it earlier than January 5th, 2010.

Interesting comment you have there on S04. I'm thinking of getting it for a friend for his birthday and I'm thinking of getting...er playing the PS3 version in the future. So if you go in just wanting to have fun with exploring and fighting it should be enjoyable right?

Yes, the Japanese version will be region-locked according to Sega of Europe. Although pretty much every PS3 title is region-free, this unusual move was done intentionally to prevent imports because they feared it would impact sales in both the U.S. and Europe. Here's a link from Kotaku if you're interested [Link] . Yeah, I don't understand exactly why they would lock the title, but I guess they really are worried about overall sales. I can't wait for "Demon's Souls" and "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" myself, but good luck with "Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2" though!

Oh, forgive me for leaving a message without any notice, but I was looking at your anticipation list and noticed "Bayonetta" was placed under 2009. I'm not sure if you heard anything, but the English release for the title was delayed until January 2010. The Japanese should still see release in October, but strangely it will be one of the few titles that has been region-locked thus preventing players from importing it for their systems.

Oh? I guess it's just a coincidence that your username is the same as the BB anime intro theme "Ao-iconoclast". And yeah, when I heard they were making Black Lagoon S3 I was pretty excited about it. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. And thanks, I've made some significant progress with my Hakumen game lately, now its just a matter of getting specific move timings down and learning specific character strategy. The only thing beyond that is learning frame data, but I'll only get serious on that if I decide to go into high-level tournament play.

Ha, thanks. It's done with a pair of php scripts on my website. The banner and avatar refer to those scripts instead of directly linking to an image. If you have some webspace, it's very easy to set up. You can even download the script from my site.

Nice theme, got some nice references too. I'm assuming the username is a BlazBlue reference? And the title of your notes is a Black Lagoon reference?
