Warning: There may be a large block of text following this 'cause.. MH shenanigans.
In my personal opinion you would benefit from starting with MH Rise versus something like World. World was a first for a lot of people curious about the MH series and some ended up loving it, even praising it, for making a lot of things easier or streamlined. I disagree with this approach because as a long time fan and someone who's dumped 500+ hours into MH4U there were a lot of issues I had with World. I won't bash on it or go into super details here but if you want my personal opinion, I would suggest starting with MH Rise.
Rise combines the style, difficulty level, and fun factor that the older entries of the series have while also improving and including the QOL changes we saw in World. Things like swapping weapons or getting items at the camp tent, not having to mark monsters with paintballs, no more carrying whetstones to sharpen your weapons, and even things like gathering have been sped up. Combat feels fluid and fun to play on ALL the weapons and there are plenty of tutorials and in-game notes to help you learn how to play/how weapons work. Heck, there's even a training area to practice said weapons. The aesthetic and music are also much improved in this entry as it feels more in line with MH vibe imo. Okay I'll stop gushing about MHRise now and just say this: If you're interested in it, get it! It's fun and definitely a great choice.
Happy Tuesday & hope you have a great rest of your week.
