Well, most of the time just look at the type of the move (Physical or Special), it's power and it's accuracy (most moves should have accuracy at 95~100). If you've played DPPt, the interface is pretty much the same, and you should be able to understand it after a bit of testing.
You can (and should) also check a Pokédex site where move list for each and every Pokémon is listed in English, so you know that, for example, at level 10 Cyndaquil learns Ember, which is a Special Fire move, 40 attack and 100 accuracy, and so on.

I like Lloyd. He was pretty amusing xD I loved whenever Raine smacked someone. I mean that was just comedy to me. Genus got the most abuse. But yes Ruin Mode was all win. Nothing beats that.
