Lots of reading! Fun game though :) I'm into shows like Law and Order so this made sense for me to play 
It's a decent cooking game. Entire game is in kana so it's easy (and not so easy) to read lol Very easy to pick up vocab and have been able to play the game just fine in Japanese. Friendly for Japanese newbs like myself :P

Dialogue Box 
For single-player I have a lot more ideas, lol. The Professor Layton games are excellent. Curious Village is the first one in the series. There's also Super Princess Peach, Pokemon Black/White (I haven't played but heard they're excellent), and Kirby Mass Attack is adorable. You could also try The World Ends With You if you haven't already.
