Sometimes I worry that as I grow older I start to care less and less about playing video games. No I don't think they will ever leave my life entirely...I've grown up playing Super Mario with family and I still like to have discussions/mini-debates with my girlfriend about the best Final Fantasy games; even one of my co-workers warmed up to talking with me once I brought up the subject of the PS4 and upcoming games like Titanfall. What I'm trying to say is that while I'm fully entrenched in the culture of video gaming, I don't care too much about playing as many video games as I can. It's important to enjoy the time you have, especially if when growing up you have more responsibilities and parts of life that just take up more of the time you would have to sit down and play a game. A long time ago, I prided myself on being able to buy all the video games I wanted and to know about every single one as much as possible. It's gotten to the point where it's become overwhelming. I have a huge backlog (of which I'm proud to have recorded here on this site ) but the more I look at it the less I feel I'll ever have a chance of reducing it. I could sell my games, but there's so much intrinsic value in these boxes and discs I've collected over the years: every single one tells a story, and by selling them it would feel like that story has ended. So while the next generation is released into the world with better graphics, more online features and the bigger budget triple-A titles, I'll still be excited. Maybe not as much. Nevertheless, after finishing New Super Mario Bros U, I've almost forgotten what excited me the most while playing a video game...to be able to run, jump, progress, reach the end, and finally being able to look back and see what you've accomplished.

My official 1000th game has been bought as...Super Punch Out!! for the SNES original with box and manual! I've loved this game ever since I read about it in an issue of Nintendo Power as a young chubby lad just getting into video gaming. Now, after some 20 years of gaming (when my Dad bought me a Super Nintendo at the local Rogers Video by our house) and having played Super Punch-Out!! on the PC and Virtual Console, it's a pleasure to be able to have this game in it's original medium. Here's to the next 1000 games and more!!

Plus I love the ethnic stereotyping. I think it's made me politically incorrect to this very day!
