Sorry it's taken all this time to respond back. Haven't been in the mood for much talking lately.

Anyway, glad my old theme terrified you. I have another piece of that artist's work I plan to use as a theme in the future.

As far as how I'm doing? I'm doing ok. Wish I had more time to get some gaming done, though I did beat 1 of my unfinished games a week ago.

My theme succeeded. How are you?

I'd say it's about 70% strategy, 20% grinding, 10% luck. Most things I don't have to grind too much for, but Wingull vs. Wattson in Sapphire was not fun. I think I had to grind to level 45 to beat him, who is the third gym leader. His highest level pokemon is 23, for reference.

The Weedle run's been a lot of grinding too, mostly to beat Brock, since there's not much you can do against him other than just be more powerful, something that Weedle obviously has trouble with. I was level 28 when I finally beat him. Now that I've hit Celadon though, I can use my favourite strategy, which is buffing up with X-items, making my once weak Weedle into something... slightly less weak. Even with a 4x damage modifier at max buff, Poison Sting is still incredibly weak. This strategy is pointless though when an enemy can 1 or 2 shot Weedle, so if an enemy is that powerful, more grinding will be required.

It all depends on the pokemon. Something like Charizard would probably be super easy, and Raticate would be on the easier side. On the other side we have guys like Wingull, whose 4x weakness to electric is very easily exploited. And Weedle, who is the hardest possible solo in red/blue/yellow.

I personally found Raticate to be too easy for myself and after that stopped evolving. That made things a loooot harder. Even a level 70 Spinarak can't OHKO any of the Elite Four's pokemon in Gold/Silver.
