Yeah, I generally don't get idle time in a game where it's avoidable. If I'm taking a break, I just press the Home button. And it's still hard to believe you're a father now. <_<

That is the best. Username. Ever.

I am. XD

However, I'm probably gonna be doing a lot of questing. Sometimes it gets so overwhelming I get tempted to just skip them =/

The mall is the second big timing problem (and last one I believe).

One thing you can try since the Steam version is basically just the CD version of the game with DOSBox integrated, is to get the game to work through DOSBox. The only reason I had trouble with that is that I can't seem to set up DOSBox to work with a CD-based game, but I know it's possible. And DOSBox definitely gets rid of most of the timing issues.

I say most because soms sequences do still require you to play with Roger's speed. Without putting it on high, it's hard to move against the direction of the escalators in the mall (making it tough to reach certain entrances if you're not coming from the right direction), and the mall shootout outright requires you to up your speed to survive.

Exact same problem here! I own the CD ROM version and on a fast computer, timing based puzzles become impossible. Early on, you'll likely be unable to sneak on the shuttlecraft the Sequel Police employ in the Space Quest XII area.

The version I beat today was the one on Steam in the Space Quest Collection. There's nothing special about this version - it is still the CD version of Space Quest IV - but it runs in DOSBox. :D I had never gotten my CD ROM version to work with DOSBox, I always have trouble with CD based games, but the one with Steam runs straight out of the, er, box. Or would if it came in a box.

Ah, I never played Lost Oddysee. I borrowed Blue Dragon from a buddy, and while I liked the style (big dbz fan here), I never really got into it for some reason. Let me know how BD works out for you.
