Especially Carlos, I don't feel like he has nearly as big of a role in this game (so far) as he did in RE3 Remake lol.

I didn't get my Genesis until... I think it was 1994? The early-to-mid '90s aren't as spotty as my memories of the '80s, but they ain't exactly put together. Whenever it was, Sonic was still the pack-in, and I'm pretty sure Sonic 2 wasn't out yet. I was aware of Phantasy Star, but for whatever reason, I had no interest in ever playing it. I don't remember; I remember Guaron because it's pretty, and... not much else. I remember people bitching about foreground layers, specifically all the pipes and shit, and while that didn't bother me, I did laugh at the one outdoor dungeon that had clouds in the foreground, thinking how pissed off they would've been, thinking JUST for a moment that they'd finally be free of all that. I probably hopped on over to VGMaps, which is my go-to for that sort of thing, but I definitely understand pitfalls. Back before I was playing them myself, my grandfather and I used to play them together, and we must've spent MONTHS on the Cave to Rhone in Dragon Warrior 2 because of all those fucking pitfalls. I shit you not, the way we finally made it through was that I had a dream about getting through that room, and we followed that path. So yeah, fuck invisible pitfalls, Final Fantasy 5 forever.

I agree with you, it's a very underrated series I really enjoyed IV, it has an amazing presentation and the soundtrack is pure Sega bass fun

PSIII is the black sheep of the series because Rieko Koyama wasn't involved with it (in fact, it was made by a different team) so it has very weird story beats. The generation system is pretty cool but some things only change very slightly

No idea; I never had Phantasy Star until I tried the first game via MEKA probably in the winter of 2003, and I don't even remember if I tried Phantasy Star 2 immediately afterwards, so I have no idea what came with it. Tell you what, though: if I'd played 2 back in the day, I don't think I ever would've played 3 or 4. The ONLY thing that saved its ass was that I tried a little of 3 and 4, and had those as my carrot-on-a-stick to finally get through it.

I just finished the base game story and did the FF16 event quest... and a bunch of the other side stuff that pops up after you beat the MSQ. Pretty sure I'm just gonna avoid doing any hard dungeons at the moment if possible... multiplayer really doesn't appeal to me... especially multiplayer that requires legitimate teamwork... I'm willing to put in the work but not actually take the chance someone else isn't... and honestly, I'm never going to be good enough to do any of the things as good as I'd like in a team setting so it would drag the fun down anyway.

I have MOST of my crafting and gathering classes to 40-somethings or around there with mining and botany past 50 now. (the stories for those all cap at 50 without expansion like MSQ) and I maxed my rank with the Flames... but I don't know if I'll ever get the opportunity to get a house or apartment... I have the 300000 gil sure, but the availability is... terrible. My FC occasionally has a new one free but since I'll be gone for a while in a week I'd rather let a long-term player use it.
I did a few Tribes stories for each faction... and will likely pick up more later... but really focusing on main stuff at the moment due to lack of time.

I like slow paced games... boring is fine with me. I didn't enjoy all the gimmicky stuff in the FF16 event... re-affirmed me not wanting FF16. or any other action RPG that heavily relies on Souls-like stuff or Rogue-like stuff for that matter... actually, I'd really rather avoid action games all together at this point... but I know I won't cuz I suck at life.

I have actually played it before on PS4 during another set of free trials... I am even using the same account... though I did end up making a new toon because of how much has since been added I was dreadfully unaware of what was going on outside the MSQ... so many more side things to do... even crafting has stories now. The FF14 free thing is just 30 days, a unique minion and a unique ear ring with crazy high stats and bonus XP till LVL 80. I like free things. I will definitely get the expansions and a sub at SOME point but to answer both questions, this are still pretty awful and I just can't afford to do the expansions or a sub at the moment.

I'm playing FF14 right now as well. The free 39 days from game pass perks applied to my existing account which I liked. Using it as much as possible right now.

I, love this theme. It's like Deep Space Nine combined with something from a game I could've played in the N64 era. Really makes me feel like a kid watching this.

Disks aren't in the best condition though, I might have to get em resurfaced if I experience problems. I already experienced some hesitation at the end of episode 3.

Oh! ❗ On the subject of Hebereke, and I only just found this out last night (and predownloaded purely on impulse), on the Nintendo Switch eShop I learned about Hebereke: Enjoy Edition, which is the original 8-bit game as it was originally on the Famicom but with special features (like seeing the cover and pages from Hebereke and Ufouria: The Saga on the menu, achievements, different wall paper, and a "special snap" feature which you unlock any time there's a dialogue sequence which you can compare when accessing its menu how it was worded in the Japanese version--with translation--and the officially released PAL version). It is 383 MegaBytes (had to free up some room), but I'm glad the series starter got its new lease in life~ The music's tempo is not upscaled and sped up like in the Virtual Console releases, but I found myself not minding that so much as the music is still good (the Hebereke theme, no matter the rendition, is *chef's kiss* 😚)

RE0 is definitely a toughy. To be honest, I want to put it off and preferably play something like Revelations instead. I don't really know a lot about Revelations other than it looks very arcadey, kinda similar to Mercenaries, but I love Mercenaries anyway.

I've heard about Sweet Home. And apparently that was also based on a movie? I didn't know RE1 was initially supposed to be a remake of that though, that's interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I'd really like to get back to marathoning the REs, but I'm currently sidewinding out of horror games into grindy games I never expected myself to like haha. I'm juggling too many long titles at once but I'm not willing to drop anything either.

I'd love to see a remaster of the second game. Make some quality of life changes because some of the game mechanics haven't aged all that well. Heck, I'd love to see VC3 remastered as well, though I don't know how much needs to be changed there.

I need to earn a Platinum trophy for the PS4 version. That will be interesting because I'm so used to the speedrun, I'll play similar to the route.

In the meantime, I've been working my way through the Legacy of Kain series. I'd play Soul Reaver 1 with the HD remaster, but my computer is getting repaired. Blood Omen 1 was a great time. I vibed with the setting and enjoyed Kain's voice acting.
