I've been wanting a real space sim for a long, long time. Since I first played Starfox on the SNES, probably, and if not that, the N64 Rogue Squadron.
Is Elite: Dangerous that? Is it everything that a "real space sim" needs to be? No. Or to answer that more precisely, I believe the full answer is 'not yet'. There's a lot missing. But this also comes closer than anything else has. I love it for that, and for it's complexity and obtuse, dense nature. Come with a HOTAS, on PC, or don't 
It's.... not the best Zelda ever, but it's fun. 
Awful game, but I love it. This was made because there was a perception that Final Fantasy and JRPGs like it were "too complex" for the Western markets, and it shows.
