Yeah, ultimately the juxtaposition of Ryan's absolute libertarian freedom versus Lamb's complete homogeneity for the good of the whole is a pretty interesting one, in my opinion, and I've always liked both games as a whole because of it. Most people were pretty critical of 2 for not pushing the envelope or doing different stuff, and that's fine, I guess, but... eh.

Well, not to try and preemptively temper expectations, but expect it to be the same kind of writing, style, and overall feel as the previous games... but the "theme" is less obvious, if not outright variable by comparison (one of my personal critiques). That said, the game oozes and drips with style like the previous ones, and there are a lot of elements I like... but at the same time, it has its moments and digressions that are problematic. I will also reiterate the DLC is a giant "fuck you" to players/the original ending, but a lot of people seem to be fine with it (I have no idea why).

Oh, neat! Maybe someday I'll check that out.

There's some good gameplay elements here now that I sorta know what I'm doing. Finding a stage item on each floor reminds me a bit of Kung Fu Heroes which is always nice, and now I know that the items are pretty much necessary and that you can just hold the sword button down. I still feel I'm just going to play it to get it over with though.

I admire what it's doing and what it did back then, but when I want to play this type of game I'll probably stick to Fatal Labyrinth.

Also, hope you're well. I know we haven't talked so much lately. I'm trying to make more time for this place and more time for game progress because real life isn't exactly brimming with positivity right now and I could use a goal to work towards.

Learn to accept things and move on.

You can be vitriolic towards Mother all you want. You can attack people who talk to her or defend her all you want based on things like their avatars or what games they play (because playing games featuring a bunch of tough guys somehow means anything), you can act like your actions and words won't come back to bite you, especially since you close your account(s) or block people so they can't call you out for your B.S., but all you're doing is hurting yourself.

The way you acted last night is a serious cry for help. Not from Mother, or Lilith, both of whom you've treated very badly, but from a shrink. Let all of this go, because you're not only embarrassing yourself, but you're also hurting yourself in the long and short run. There's still time to save yourself, but don't expect sympathy or forgiveness from Mother, or, well, anybody else you harassed recently.

I know it's not as good as simply buying the stones, but they're actually pretty common; it's a much easier method than most of the other non-buying methods I've seen in the series so far. forgot to mention that you can also take part in the Rotom Rally to get watts as well.

That's actually close to its original Japanese name, more-or-less. in the Japanese version, the move and the location are both called Gekirin. Geki (逆) means opposite/reverse/inverse, while Rin (鱗) means scale. so a literal translation would be "Reverse Scale". however, it can also mean "Imperial Rage" as it's based on a idiom where touching a dragon's inverse scale will result in it attacking and killing the offender in a rage. [it also helps that Geki can also mean "Extreme", which uses a different Kanji but is still fitting in this context.] hence why they're both called Outrage in the English version. here's a line from an essay called The Difficulties of Persuasion...

The dragon, being a creature, may be tamed, played with in close quarters, and even ridden. However, below its throat are the inverted scales, each spanning one chi. The dragon would kill anyone touching them.

That also explains why the attack is classed as a Dragon-type move; many of the pokemon who can learn it are either Dragon-types, or are known for getting angry in accordance with their lore. Gyarados (who isn't a dragon-type, but IS based off of one, and is known for lashing out in a rage) can even be found in this location via fishing. appropriately, the move is the most powerful physical Dragon-type move in the entire franchise.

The Famicom Tantei Club remakes are coming stateside, which is great news. about the only issue I have is the price they're going for (they're $35 each; you get a $10 discount if you purchase one of them) and the fact that they're digital-only (well, sort of; Japan is getting a physical release, but it's a limited collection's edition).

Oh, so the stealth aspects aren't as frustrating. that's nice. I wish there were more games where I can out-bullshit the bullshitters like that.

I was actually talking about their availability on the VC, not their original releases. the Japanese eShop has both games available, while the western eShops only have the sequel. I was saying that since you said that the sequel is a much more polished game, we're technically not missing out on much.

So they're kinda interchangable? I didn't know that. I remember the Japanese subtitle for FE: The Sacred Stones, Seima no Koseki, had the same Kanji in it, and thought it was altered due to censorship, but if they're more-or-less the same then I guess it's not. and I guess Sega didn't had any issues with the word Holy, as Shining the Holy Arka came out worldwide with its original name intact (then again, Sega had more lenient policies).

I agree. the original Fire Emblem's SFC remake is a good example of taking a flawed game and polishing it up (the DS remake, even more so). same with the Gen 1 Pokemon games games.

I think the SD3/ToM remake worked out well for SE, as it sold a million copies worldwide (200,000 more than its original release). on a side note, apparently we didn't get SD3 because the original ROM size would have made it impossible to fit in the entire translation (indeed, the English version was released on a 48-megabit ROM rather than the 32-megabit ROM the original Japanese game was sold as), and we was only going to get the remake. it was SE's western offices suggested that they bring over the original. Well, they're doing a remaster of Legend of Mana next. one can only hope that Dawn of Mana will be next.

The first FPS I played was the original Ghost Recon (which was on PC, but I played the PS2 version), and I enjoyed it for the tactical aspect. it was the only FPS I played for a long time.

Doom was twitchy? the first time I actually heard about the game was on AVGN's review on 32x game, where he talked about how awful the 32x version's soundtrack was compared to the SNES version. I actually have both 16-bit versions of At Doom's Gate saved, but on separate playlists (the 32x one is mostly to read the hilarious comments and get a good laugh)

If it does exist, I haven't heard of it.

It's a racing game developed by Traveler's Tales (the same devs who did Sonic 3D Blast). the main difference is unlike the other Sonic racing games where everyone has a vehicle (or hover machines in the case of Sonic Riders), everyone runs on foot (except for Amy and Eggman, who use a car and hovercraft). everyone has their own skills, too.
