Yeah, ultimately the juxtaposition of Ryan's absolute libertarian freedom versus Lamb's complete homogeneity for the good of the whole is a pretty interesting one, in my opinion, and I've always liked both games as a whole because of it. Most people were pretty critical of 2 for not pushing the envelope or doing different stuff, and that's fine, I guess, but... eh.
Well, not to try and preemptively temper expectations, but expect it to be the same kind of writing, style, and overall feel as the previous games... but the "theme" is less obvious, if not outright variable by comparison (one of my personal critiques). That said, the game oozes and drips with style like the previous ones, and there are a lot of elements I like... but at the same time, it has its moments and digressions that are problematic. I will also reiterate the DLC is a giant "fuck you" to players/the original ending, but a lot of people seem to be fine with it (I have no idea why).
