Coca-Cola Freestyle mode is SMOOKIN'!

Lois: I always liked that in "The Mask." Smokin'! Hahaha. Smokin'! Smokin'!

Or maybe when Jay Sherman's dad in The Critic wore the mask and he instead said "DRINKIN'!"

First off, I COMPLETELY agree with your assessment of God of War: Ascension; even my lady, who's a hardcore fan of the series, almost didn't finish it. That final battle was nothing short of EPIC, but almost the entire rest of the game sucked. But at least it had multiplayer; that's what God of War needed!

I've only played on PC, and I can say that it looks great and runs very well; I don't remember having any real performance issues with it, and it's not like I've got one of those super ray-tracer ultrawide monitor THE SYSTEM IS YOUR NEW GOD machines. Really not sure how I feel about the spin-offs, but the three mainline games I've played were all excellent, and I'm looking forward to playing the rest, whenever I finish Octopath Traveler, which is scratching a LOT of long-standing itches for me. It is both the Final Fantasy 5/Tactics and the SaGa Frontier follow-up I've wanted since about the '90s. It might not be as weird and colorful as SaGa Frontier, but it was definitely designed by a fan.

Most of what you'll read and hear talk about the number/color thing or being able to see sound, but for me, it's everything. Well, except smell, because I have no sense of smell, but everything else is connected. Visual reactions are the most common for me, and usually the strongest - I've experienced reactions so strong that I couldn't see what was right in front of me - but they can definitely be physical. One of the first I remember was Doom 64; can't say what it was about the lighting effects, but they cause my body to heat up more and more until I either throw up or pass out, and since it's from that, doing things like eating bowls of ice cream doesn't even slow it down. I used to get that kind of claws-on-a-chalkboard feeling (I assume most people get a physical sensation with that) from certain sounds that come from people touching paper sometimes, too, but I haven't had one of those in a long time. Since I've had this my whole life, and only learned that it was a thing within the last 10 years or so, there are a lot of reactions I might be having that I don't even realize are synaesthetic, too. I've had lots of strange ailments that affect me in many different ways, so it's sometimes hard to detangle synaesthesia from OCD, PTSD, sleep paralysis, or whatever else.

Now's a good time to get into the series, so it worked out, but yeah, I've definitely been missing out because of some misinformation that may or may not have been self-inflicted; glad Lilith straightened my ass out.

It really is; I was pretty excited when people were raving about it, instead of saying, "I don't know... it's not that bad; they had to rush to finish it and everything..." It was clear that this wasn't another 4. I figured I'd check out some gameplay just to be sure, and... oh man... that one cutscene where V does that thing to the demon at the end... that texture on it just gave me chills, and not the good kind; I almost lost my dinner, and it's one of those things that likes to follow me around for a week or so. But yeah, even though most people just talk about the color-coded numbers/letters and being able to see music, every single one of my senses can interact with every other one of them. Sometimes, the right kind of music can fuck me up bad and make me dizzy; sometimes, sharp nerve pain can totally block out my vision with a little scene of sorts; sometimes, my handwriting tastes like vanilla. 🤷‍♀️ Cracked surfaces are usually the worst; it's not uncommon for me to get bad chills and become nauseated. One time, I had to have another market patron grab some milk for me, because the glass door on the cooler was shattered, and I couldn't even look at it.

Oh, I am, at least when it comes to being impressed; I'm both a writer and a cynic, so I really don't care about many video game characters, even a lot of absolute icons that everyone loves. Meet me in real life, and unless you're just the worst kind of human garbage, I'll probably melt, but fictional characters are often just that in my mind. Kiryu was an instant hit with me, though, and the story really pulled me in like I couldn't believe. It's one of those things that makes me feel inadequate as a writer, and I'm not sure if that's valid or if it's because it winds around in a way that I wouldn't have thought to write it; I already know what my writing is like, so it's not going to impress me. It's easily among my favorite series, too; not sure if it outclasses Devil May Cry or Mega Man - it's hard to say, too, since it's not the same kind of game - but it's certainly up there.

Oh I know that feeling I actually did a similar thing with XRD back around when that came out and was just completely confused as I apparently missed the memo it was now a movie lol.

Dualsense or a dvd remote bsaically do the same job for that games story lmao.

I'd always thought that it was just a Grand Theft Auto knockoff, because I know what the yakuza is. When I finally got my hands on Zero, I said, "Oh! It's a Brawler! I've been craving one of those since Devil May Cry bit it BIG." This was before Devil May Cry 5 came out, when the newest ones were 4 (which I hated) and the reboot (which I liked, but everyone else hated); things weren't looking good for the series. Of course, thanks to synaesthesia, I can't play 5 because I get some BAD reactions from this game, even worse than Doom 64, which makes my body temperature rise until I either vomit or pass out.

Anyway, yes, love the series; I'm fussy as hell about writing, and it really impressed me in that department. The combat's solid, and the open world is actually reasonable to traverse; even though the light at the end of this Steam tunnel has been shut off due to budget constraints, I'm excited to get back into it.

This may or may not be a sex ad. I don't know yet. It's not important. What is important is that I need a young man, between 18 and 29, to get over here and spend hours of his time playing killer7 on my GameCube, because it is brilliant, and because no dick he ever sucks or strokes or receives will ever be as important as experiencing killer7. I am offering you the chance to improve your life, at no cost to you aside from some of your time. I expect this to be ongoing, because killer7 is way too fucking long (it took me ~20 hours to clear) and you simply *must* see the ending. It's a deliciously demented mental orgasm.

You must be at least 18 because killer7 is an M-rated game featuring extreme violence and adult themes. You must be no older than 29 because killer7 is the voice of our generation, and the surrealistic sociopolitical dialogue cutscenes interspersed with shallow rail shooting will surely not resonate with middle-aged audiences outside of Japan. You must be a man because uhhhhhhhhhhh videogames.

All those naked pictures of me are because I may or may not be naked during this. You are not here for me. You are here to play killer7, and only to play killer7. and you must not let me distract you from killer7. It is a singleplayer game so I will not be playing it with you. I might watch you. I might rub you, I might blow you, I might take a shower with the door open, I might fall asleep, I might play a different videogame or read a book, I might leave my apartment and go somewhere to eat. Don't expect anything out of this other than to be amazed by killer7.

If you seem awkward and unwilling to fully immerse yourself in Suda51's wacky and wonderful cel-shaded post-9/11 fantasyland, I will turn you away. Serious replies ONLY.

Welcome to modern guilty gear story modes where they just gave up with pretending it wasn't just a glorified visual novel with some fights in it with increasingly annoying win conditions to progress routes and made it a movie instead.

Updated my Goals for 2021 post-E3. Mainly only additions, but I did drop Ninja Gaiden 2004 since I've run into so many issues with my XBOX that I don't feel it's worth it to pursue a finished save on my 360 or leave the XBOX hooked up in a messy way while I try to beat it. After what I've played, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am indeed a fan of the series, and I can't wait to get the Trilogy in the mail so I can give them a proper shake on the PS5.

No problem! All the Nocturne items you have on display are great.

I might have killer7 on display, but I feel bad about it. I love Suda51 and his unmatched creativity/style, but I haven't finished it quite yet. I was making my way through and got stuck on one of the chapters. Then the Nintendo Direct that had all the NMH games hit and I immediately jumped into those since I was hyped. I'll get back to killer7 and finish it proper soon though!

Yeah, I understand that. They could have done much, MUCH more with the LE, and even the European and Asian versions of the games have the standard Switch case included. But Metroid is my favorite game series, so I kind of just want to give Nintendo my money, lol.

I'm already excited to see more of Metal Slug Tactics. Grid based tactic games are already fun as hell and I'm all for more SNK love. The sprite work looks great too.

Quite a few solid reveals already. Not to mention Elden Ring is real and they saved it as the last surprise of the Summer Games Fest kickoff. I know next to nothing about it, but I'm happy for all its fans.

I've heard about Takahashi's participation in the development of one of Playdate's games! I love the console's idea and hope I can get one, although I'm not sure I'll be able to since importing it might not end up as affordable as I'd wish. Gladly currency conversions seem to be getting a little better around here, so there's still hope!

The Playdate looks really rad and even has a game by Keita Takahashi to boot! I also would like to pick one up as a software dev just to mess around with the rotary encoder crank.

Me had to pass on Monster World IV on Switch. The remake is the textbook example of "pointless if you've already played the original." I already have the game on Wii and the Genesis Mini, so... yeah, had to pass on it. Don't lemme stop ya from enjoying it though. I'm sure the collector's edition is wonderful.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection hype. Hoping it'll be excellent.
