Super delayed response: ohh, I just misunderstood. I did think you had played it, but my brain is silly. Reincarnation I don't know how to feel about, it's supposed to be a gacha game and I'm not a huge fan of things that are effectively gambling. I do hope that with the Drakengard references in the NieR raids in FFXIV that we'll end up getting an HD set, but the games didn't sell super well to my knowledge. Might just be a digital only set which would break my heart (I like physicals).

I actually put NieR down for a bit tho, because I was so hyped for Returnal (did not disappoint) and then Village was coming out. I beat RE6/7 (which I'd never played prior) specifically in prep for Village, which I have arriving tomorrow. I'm really excited because I'm not ever phased by horror (RE7 got me with one or two jumps but beyond that was nicely spook without scaring me), and I've heard Village is spooking some people who weren't spooked by 7! Not to mention big mommy vampi~

Loving every single second of Village so far thanks! Huge fan of the gothic atmosphere, great puzzles and fantastic cast!! but THAT was just horrific

That section dude..... going down the dark corridor, dolls, mannequin puzzle and the baby!?!? what the heeeeeck....I don't even want to know what getting caught is like and i hope you didn't have to experience that haha

The absolute best thing about Beneviento Dollhouse though was it was proper suspenseful horror with no cheap full screen jump scares around every corner like I imagined it would be, so I was really impressed!

Games gone full action again now with the windmill section but I’m enjoying the puzzle solving so much!
Have free nights for the rest of the week so full steam ahead now

I haven't yet been able to start Village, and you're updates are making the delay all the more painful haha. You seem to be enjoying it!

Yeah, I had to get it from another vendor. And then, as I knew would happen, I began playing other games after doing the initial portion, because the memories hit me so hard I couldn't continue for a bit. NieR is basically one of the few games that hits such an intensely personal note for me it's genuinely hard to grind through sometimes, haha. Admittedly playing brother Nier isn't as bad as Papa Nier in terms of the feels, the father-daughter connection damn near broke me.

And wait, this isn't your first time with it, right? I thought you had already played, or did I misunderstand?

Yeah things like the DeathDream and Resident Evil Mansion have deffinetly made a lasting impression on me! Finished up The Aerie boss fight last night and saw the power of the ultimate weapon

Really enjoying the characters and story still but it's not quite hit the highs of Automata (yet) need to keep going and experience those endings!

I completely relate to the sea of games, coupled with a pretty severe lack of time these days. Is it strange that the pandemic making it look like a light year for must-play new games is something I'm fine with? Glad to hear you're both enjoying Outriders. My oldest is starting to get into loot shooters so we're dabbling in it together. It's definitely a good time.

I have fond memories of the first Nier, and Automata is just so spectacular that I know I'm going to lose the battle and end up grabbing Replicant one of these days. I've kept myself fairly 'blind' to it, so I hope I can go in fresh when I do.

Bowser's Fury was lots of fun! Short, but fun. My younger son and daughters are very into Mario (he's played Odyssey 4 or 5 times, and is going through Sunshine right now) so we played it together. Them wanting to play through 3D world together made the price of admission worth it, but I completely understand holding off until a sale (HA, from Nintendo?) or a desire to play 3D world again comes up. I liked the mechanics and the gameplay was lots of fun. Definite recommendation.

I'm loving Hades! I jumped on the hype train way late, but Supergiant games have yet to disappoint. I loved Bastion, Transistor and Pyre. I've died.... 20 times I think? Loved every second. I'll admit the first few times I died or made it to the first boss and got wrecked I kind of went "How am I ever going to do this", but I keep inching further and further. I completely understand the adoration the game gets.

I'm with you about loving loot shooters.

How are you liking it so far? I've gotten a bit farther now and I keep finding things I enjoy about it.

How are you enjoying Replicant? For some reason I'm on the fence about it (maybe because I have more than I can even play currently).

Absolutly loving Replicant at the moment thanks!!
I was getting Zelda vibes right off the bat, but after clearing out a few of the dungeons this is getting ridiculous

Favourite moment's in the game have been Going into the libary at the very start of the game and realizing it's the same building as Automatas (The office - and Majoras Mask like music) ((That must of been incredible the other way around for people who played this game first too!)) and the Deathdream quest as i'm a fan of old choose your own adventure books.

Combat, characters, environments heck everything is fantastic and i'm actually a huge fan of this old style of side questing (not having icons on the map / a list of things to do on screen all the time) reminds me of past generations (bit like what we talked about with FFXI a while back)

Music is incredible too. I'm so impressed at how they made the change from this fantasy style setting to Automata and kept it in the NieR style.

Looking forward to finishing this one as i'm really invested in the story so far!

Hey!

From what I've actually had the time to play so far I'm really really liking it. I dabbled with a few classes during the beta and each feels nice and unique. Combat is fun, and surprisingly challenging! It feels like the "World Tier" levelling up actually matters. I've died a bunch and enjoyed every minute.

The story is a thing! That exists! I don't think that's the standout of the whole experience but it isn't bad either?

Overall I would definitely suggest it, but I also suffered through Anthem and half of Godfall so I may be easily impressed by loot shooters these days. I'm planning on playing it with my oldest. Going to start this weekend I think.

Yeah, I'm really happy people will finally get to play it, since I feel it has a far more impactful and emotional story than most games on the market, and IMO more so than Automata. Unfortunately, I don't typically preorder or pay full price for games and went ahead and tried to grab it yesterday only for the shipping to be very up in the air ("we will email you when it ships" and now I'm just feeling melancholy.
This is where it all starts and ends.
