Apocalypse is great! I take it you played SMT IV, then? It basically takes everything IV did and expands on all of it. Well, aside from having a much more uhhh... Persona-esque story. Aka the route options are fairly cookiecutter - you either wanna be edgy, or you don't. Your choice, unlike with how Chaos isn't inherently "edgy" or flawed, and usually a more valid moral option than Law's extremes.

But that aside, the actual cast is a MASSIVE improvement over IV's! One of the best parties I've had the joy of watching grow. There's even some character development of some IV characters who never had a chance to shine...

You should definitely check it out if the world of IV was as awesome to you as it was to me: the game takes place is an alternate timeline that breaks off just before the IV protagonist finishes the Neutral Ending, so I'd recommend (but it doesn't require) that you play that first. Again, not required, and it has an extensive in-game lore book to cover both old and new things about IV's fascinating worldbuilding.

I also can't wait to play other SMTs after V! I may need a break though; I'm undoubtedly getting burnt out.

EDIT: Oh, and durrr, the gameplay is second only to V now. It introduced the Skill Affinities which would then become Skill Potentials in SMT V, a really incredibly helpful system for Demon-building.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
Confused: Playing 10+ games at once
I'm doing alright. Not a lot of time for games lately, but a lot of work and expecting our first baby any day now.

Thanks! Your page is nice too. I enjoyed Astral Chain. I usually don't mind silent protagonists but it really doesn't work in the game's favor. The story was fine otherwise, at least. The gameplay was pretty good but it didn't really start to click with me until the game was almost over . The game runs pretty well too, I mostly played it in handheld mode and there never were any serious performance issues.
The game is pretty short if you just stick to the main story. I don't know if you're familiar with Yakuza at all, but like those games, if you try to complete the "Orders" list (Completion List in Yakuza) then it makes the game much, much longer and not exactly in a good way. I made no conscious effort to do them.

Thanks! It's cool to meet another SMT fan too! Strange Journey was awesome, I loved every second of it. I feel like it really gave me a bug for wanting to try out a lot of first-person dungeon crawlers. I'm very envious of you getting to play SMTV already lol, I couldn't afford it on launch so I'm doing all I can to avoid spoilers everywhere! I hope you enjoy it though. From what little I've heard it sounds just as amazing (if not moreso) than I'm anticipating, so I can't wait to snag a copy (hopefully) soon.

Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
Hey! I've been doing well, thanks. Hope you and the family are too.

I'm really liking Shining Pearl, the third and fourth generation games are the ones I sunk the most time into as a child, so it's been really fun to revisit the fourth one again. From what I can tell so far, they're very direct remakes of Diamond and Pearl specifically, with some small pieces of content from Platinum and also a few new additions like the expansion to the underground system. I think it's a shame these remakes aren't on the same scale as something like Fire Red/Leaf Green or Heart Gold/Soul Silver, but if you'd like to experience generation four again I don't think it'd be a bad choice to pick it up. Especially if your daughter hasn't played the originals before. I'm definitely looking forward Legends Arceus though, it'll be nice to have something new.
