i keep meaning to set aside some time to actually play strawberry cubes before i reply, but i keep getting wrapped up in other things. unfortunately i'm only familiar with loren schmidt's work second-hand; lots of time marvelling at development updates, but no useful experience. this is where i was going to say that crono_maniac is someone with a much better perspective on the subject but i see he's already been summoned, hah hah.

sorry for the delay in responding! i really want to explore these games but as you can see by my now playing list "i will totally set aside time for this" is a gigantic lie i routinely tell myself ._.

Hey! Saw your comment on Sharc's page, I looooooove Schmidt's work. I think Star Guard and Luminous Corridor 0 are great places to start if you like action-y stuff, and Strawberry Cubes if you're more interested in esoteric exploration.

saw this update on gtramp's multitap, and something about the combination of that title and the comment is fascinatingly eerie. if you don't mind explaining, i'm real curious about the context here.

Oh? Then you should enjoy it. I have to say, though, I'm now at the end game, and it's gotten kind of dull. Mainly because luck becomes very important if you go for completion. But I'll keep at it.

I've been trying to get all mementos for a while now, but Peaches doesn't cooperate .-. She's visited me over 30 times, but never left me a present. Also, for some reason, her visits have become rarer as of late. I wonder why.

It's an odd one, that's for sure. At first, I thought it to be something like Animal Crossing mixed with the multiple worlds concept of Kingdom Hearts, but it's actually further from AC than a first impression would let on to.

For one, progression is a lot more defined. Your objective in Castleton and surrounding worlds is to collect stickers. The more stickers you have, the more content you can unlock. They're handed out for completing various tasks, which include fishing, running a café, farming, battling monsters and crafting, from what I've gotten to see.

The thing is, ultimately, all of those elements exist to fuel or motivate the crafting, which seems to be the game's central mechanic. The more you progress, the more materials and cash are going to be demanded from you to complete clothing and furniture sets, for instance, which are required to complete requests. Alhough, you can also make those just to be pretty if you wish to.

But yeah, whether you enjoy it or not depends on enjoying this craft-a-thon, and also on liking being around Disney characters. Myself, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Sometimes the gameplay quirks get to me, but it's not enough to take me out of the experience, and besides, running around town in a princess gown and taking pictures with characters has been quite relaxing. On that note, it's worth saying that there is no central plot or any sense of urgency to your actions, which can be good or bad depending on what kind of experience you're looking for.

As for whether it's better to skip straight to 2... I don't know D: I'm not aware of the differences between the games. But I do know that 1 is usually found for cheaper, so there's that.
