Here are the strategies I tried: #1 All Pokémon Level = Wild Pokémon Level +2 (in current area). #2 Only lowest level caught Pokémon can be in party. #3 Use Pokémon only in areas they are super effective. Theoretically, balanced types in the wild implies balanced leveling. I'm ended up just playing with a set team of my favorites.

I've played the original and despite the game following the old Final Fantasy graphics style (I through V), it is quite good, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The Switch version is, more or less, a straight up remake but is faithful to its source, but with some improvements and looking like Octopath Traveler's cousin. So I guess you could say it's an upgrade.

It's very much worth playing though, and personally I'm finding it more involving appearance-wise. The 2D+3D style really works well with it, and it's nice to actually know what attack types are effective against what monsters, since I had no idea what hurt who more in the original SFC version.

I've got some strong feelings about the structure of gacha games and game structure in general that preys upon ocd in certain ways. Although it's hard to balance understanding how people play games, and exploiting how people play games to make the experience more popular.

Yeah, while the market is pretty steep right now it's still possible to negotiate prices with vendors and you can often tell which ones are just in it for high profit margins. The stock is definitely more dynamic than the game store down the street that's backed up with sports titles and player's choice games. I often find things that I forgot existed or had heard of from friends.

I've only really played the first Dragon Quest game. Is the 16bit era pretty kind to the series? It seems like they were really going places with the party system in 3, and when I picked up VIII on PS2, it seemed pretty polished.

I didn't really pick up much digitally for WiiU/3DS...but I imagine some of the digital versions would be significantly cheaper than their physical versions at this point. Off the top of my head, Rhythm Thief (SEGA) was a rhythm game with a good French-inspired soundtrack with some fun crossover songs and light puzzle solving. Replaying songs on the Hard difficulty to get perfect was painstakingly repetitive though. Rhythm Heaven Megamix is a great "best-of" game with extra language options and a cute gallery of items from each of the stages. The Dream Radar was a cool extension for the Pokémon games to import some hard to catch Pokémon. I hear the Professor Layton games are getting a bit expensive, so those might be good to grab, too. I'll have to double-check some of what I have since I haven't fired up those consoles in a bit, but that's what comes to mind so far!

That's a shame. Yeah, it definitely helps to have people that are invested in it to keep the item catalog building and enjoy some of the mini games together. I really miss what New Leaf was doing since New Horizons just threw a lot of that direction out the window in favor of crafting and more of a mobile game style daily-task-driven gameplay cycle. At least New Leaf has Tetris Attack! I was really hoping that would make it. lol

Retro game expos are kinda neat. I really go to check out game quality in person for stuff I'm looking for. You get a lot of private collections that people are using to turn games around (albeit sometimes the prices are pretty steep). A lot of rare stuff shows up for sale, sometimes there are gaming related guests or museum installations (Rare peripheral gallery: Nintendo Sewing Machine, etc.; art gallery featuring artists who did box art back in the day, Nintendo Power clay model display, etc.). A little bit like a game-focused swap meet. I went looking for Monster Rancher and Boktai games, but couldn't find the price/quality I wanted.

So is there anything in particular you've been enjoying lately?

I think the second one is a lot better. Dashing just feels better. In the first Xtreme, using select feels awkward and double tapping right or left doesn't feel as good.

I definitely recommend the other GB mega man games. I like that V does it's own thing. Good luck on your backlog

Cannot blame you. They are popular choices for a reason. I play Mega Man X every year. Kinda a tradition for me.

I'm still playing FGO, of course. It's pretty much the only mobage I'll dedicate portions of my time to. Though in terms of non-mobage I've been playing Monster Hunter Rise and Mortal Kombat 11, as well as various other games. Recently been playing through Vice: Project Doom from start to finish quite a bit on the Switch's NES emulator and have been reminded why I always loved the game.

Honestly, I don't blame you about AI's battle system or plot. I barely remember anything from the latter anymore other than one or two things. It was just that unremarkable. I stopped playing after beating the game too and never looked back.

Hope you have a better time with Atelier Iris than I did. I ended up not liking that game very much in the end and it had a lot of problems that made it less than tolerable for me. By now most of my experience with it was a blur other than there being a lot of tedium and how easy it is to be screwed over if the MC dies mid-battle.

Can't say I miss it.

I've decided I'm going to skip 'em. They just aren't very fun to do for me. I cleared the 5 from last year's batch, but no way am I doing the All-Out Battle one. I just don't have the patience to put up with SNK boss syndrome-like battles nowadays, I guess. Not worth risking frustration over the tickets and mats.
Good that you're having a better time of it than I am, at least.

Doesn't help that I'm pretty much burned out on NeroFest at this point and I'm readying for the rerun of the last Halloween event. Also who are you going to get with your free SR ticket with the 7Mil Download Event? I'm thinking of getting either Edison or Medea Lily, myself.

Ah yeah, by 200 I meant SQ. Also I meant to update that to 400 SQ and 60 tickets, because all I have to show for it is NP2 Summer Nero, Summer Fran, Summer Nito, Atalanta, Wu Zetian and a ton of event CE. Here's hoping Summer Nobu will respond to my call in a week and a half from now. I was really hoping I could get her ASAP but I guess that was wishful thinking... it left me very sad that I couldn't get her. I wasn't even aiming to get the others, I only wanted my Demon King.

I really hope 630 SQ will be enough to get me Nobu. I really should've waited but I guess now I'm paying for my zeal. Part of me wants to give up, but part of me still holds out hope. After all, I was able to get three out of the four part 1 Servants... and I managed to snag Atalanta, who I was wanting for a while, so maybe there'll be hope.

Mostly I'm glad to have gotten Atalanta, though. I'll at least have her for the Apocrypha event later on, whenever that is. I'll be sure to have her ready before then. And here's hoping I can get Summer Nobu and get my happy ending from this event. I hate that I have to wait so long for the best chance for her...

I pretty much used up all my riceballs. They wouldn't have given much QP anyways and I got much more out of exchanging gourds for it. I bought up everything but the monuments since I tend to get them a lot anyways and I don't use them up that fast.

The Rashomon rerun went well. I had fun revisiting it. Lancetoria, Waver, Drake and BB ended up being my MVPs for most of the event. I love how spammable Lancetoria's NP can be, it really helps with dealing with Ibaraki quickly! Now I shall look forward to Onigashima and future Raikou bullying.

I think after Kiara, there's just the post-story quests with BB, which are tough. The final battle with her and a bunch of Shadow Servants is pretty rough going, but not along the same lines as the final boss fight. I managed to get through it alright with Amakusa and Jeanne handy who managed to be the only survivors in the end.

If you're running out of time, you may have to expend quartz to push through and accomplish everything else in order to NP5 BB. Otherwise, if you don't finish everything in time, you're going to be waiting two whole years before the event is rerun over here.

I managed to beat the story just a little while ago. It really does help to grind to complete the 80+ missions in order to get enough KP to seriously cripple the final boss' power. And boy is there a lot of grinding to do. But them's the breaks...

It's still a very difficult event though. I promise you the Alter Ego battles are some of the worst you'll find, on par with the ridiculous challenge quests during the last Nero Fest. And as for the fights with BB? I recommend taking a good Martha Ruler if you have someone who's got her in your friend list. I also recommend bringing your Scathach to those Alter Ego battles since she can do immense damage to them with a buffed NP.

Still, congrats on getting Melt! May she serve you well. I guess she was feeling merciful and came without making you suffer too much. I haven't even rolled yet... I'm waiting for the part 2 banner in hopes of getting Kiara. I just really hope she comes. I like the lewd nun. Maybe she'll answer my prayers if I give myself up to the Horny Underworld and submit to her perverted dogma.

Tried three tickets, though, and got jack for it (sadly not the Ripper). Not even an event CE. I don't want to use up more tickets trying right now anyways. Have you been playing the event yet, also?

For the most part. I managed to get enough stuff out of it, at least, and still have plenty of apples to spare, so I'm ready for GUDAGUDA Meiji Restoration. Looking forward to getting Chacha.

But now I'm tempted to want to roll even though I hadn't planned on it, because of that cool looking Nobu CE that I'd like to have! And I kind of don't want to bank on getting Hijikata cause I don't have the QP to spare for him, and Chacha's going to be taking it up anyways. I would be fine with getting Edison out of it though if that happened.

I have several that I use and want to boost, but I just can't decide on which ones I want to put all these EXP CEs into. So I've just been storing them in the Second Archive and letting them take up space in it at present.

Also I read a while back that you got Angra from the FP gacha? Congrats! The odds of ever getting him are more staggering than a 5* Servant!

Yeah, it's interesting. It's also really tough thanks to the break bars. It makes me glad I have Waver and fully maxed Merlins in my friend list. The final battles can be pretty rough. I'm lucky that I have good 5 star Servants to make the going a little more manageable.

I already look forward to Agartha. I'm not sure if I'll try for the banner that comes with it or not, but I would love to have Penthesilea in my servant pool. If not, there's always that one milestone campaign that gives you a ticket for a free 4 star of your choice, which we'll probably be getting much later this year.

I'm sadly unable to do Double Merlin since I don't have him... but neither am I torn up about it since I have Waver and that's good enough for me. I'm content with just borrowing him from friends. Double Waver can be pretty handy too.
