I dunno what to think about that game except for two things:

A) With headphones, this game would be unbearable unless you could turn the volume way down (especially with some of the music).

B) Those spiders near the beginning of the game would've freaked me out as a kid since I did (and still kinda do, but not as much) freaking hate spiders.

I think I've heard Impossible Mission is supposed to be a somewhat unknown (at least compared to something like Super Mario Bros) classic in computer (and maybe some console?) gaming. I've never heard of Forbidden Forest, though, but that might be one of those games C64 people know well and us DOS/Windows/console gamers never got to see. :/

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised that you wouldn't be exposed to stuff like BBSes in a rural area (even though my town could be considered a rural area and the guy who hosted the BBS lived here, I guess we got lucky), although I'm thinking that the people who supplied you with games probably knew people who knew how to pirate games and maybe even taught them how to do it themselves, and supplied them with games every so often.

Oh wow, I never had a C64 growing up (although I think one of my brothers said we had one either before I was born or when I was super little until we upgraded to the Tandy computer I remember pretty well), but it's one of those systems I'd like to get more into if I could since a lot of people have fond memories of it. It seems like I hear a lot of stories about people playing pirated C64 games more than ones they or their families bought, but I guess it's not too surprising since most older computer games aren't well known for their copy protection. I do miss a lot of the old games I played as a kid. I've found them on abandonware sites, but I would love to have the actual physical copies and whatever neat extras they came with again.

Also, you don't master the Stanley Parable. The Stanley Parable masters you (unless you choose the door on the right).
