I finally got a gaming laptop! Granted, it won't hold much, so I'll likely swap the drive out soon, but I'm finally getting caught up with the modern trends. And, of course, that means I can cut a huge swath out of my backlog, no longer limited by under powered hardware!

Not at all! You've got Sam & Max, Gemini Rue, and TIME LORD in your collection, and that's my kind of gamer.

A Fallen Champion

He fought as well as it could, but time caught up with him. He was a fighter, always willing to put up with stuff he didn't like. He conquered mighty foes, took some beatings, and felt on top of the world. Nothing could stop him.

But now he is dying.

The disease came slowly, at first, and he paid it no mind at the time. He kept pulling through the darkest days, stopping briefly to refresh himself. But the disease caught up with him. His days were numbered, and he knew it.

Fate was not kind to him, as his methods of keeping stable started failing, one by one. He stored away his valuables, hoping to one day reclaim them, but he knew he might ever return for them.

Now, even weaker than before, his memory is spotty, failing to recognize some familiar things from the past. He knew he had hours left before he went, possibly more if his weary mind could hold out. Before long, he would lose control of the things that kept him operating, or at the very least be severely crippled. But then, when his mind went, he knew that all was lost.

He knew what he would say, at the end. He wouldn't be able to control when it was said, nor could he stop the statement when it was uttered. He knew that his last words would be: "Hard drive failure."

This was just a clever, preemptive epitaph for my laptop, which is about to lose its Windows 7 OS by the end of today, and is about to suffer a hard drive failure. It's sad to see a laptop I've had for almost a year go out this way, but hopefully I can find a way to salvage it, repair the hard drive, and get back the stuff I've saved on a couple of my friends' hard drives. It'll be a long, arduous road, but hopefully, it'll be worth it in the end.

Failing that, I guess I'll have to get a new laptop, but I ain't got no money for that :P
