FF12 for me is a combination of things I absolutely love from other RPGs wrapped up nicely in a pretty package. Ivalice is by far my most favorite of the Final Fantasy worlds (influenced from FFTA/2). The politics in FF12 remind me heavily of Tactics Ogre games, which bring a mature angle to the story. Following the traditional Final Fantasy flavor of magics & magic crystals reminds me of old FF games. Including Espers (by name!) also adds to this.

I wish so much that I could have had custom party members, or at least a moogle, nu mou, or heck even a bangaa to tag along with me. Playing through FF12 makes me want to replay FFTA/2, which I likely will after I beat this.

FF9 holds a special place in my heart as I had saved my pennies waiting for it to come out, and it was everything I hoped it would be in its brilliant throwback to the SNES Final Fantasy games I grew up with. But FF12 gives it a serious run for its money to qualify as my favorite Final Fantasy game.
