Herald of Bak'laag: 500+ unfinished games
I can agree with that. I actually got shafted a bit with how I played, unfortunately. If you buy digital, you get all of the things you need at a flat $59.99 price point, with no stipulations. I wanted to go the physical route because I loved the design, and I love supporting those kinds of products, but unfortunately, when you go physical, aside from the obvious "you're spending more money than digital" you also have to use the parts at least once a week or the game "de-registers" them from your inventory. I'm assuming it was put into play to avoid one person buying them and sharing them among all their friends, but it's really frustrating to deal with, especially for someone like me who doesn't play this game non-stop.

I don't know if they happened to fix that at all in any patches, but it was my only real gripe with the game.

I saw you're playing Starlink! I never got around to finishing it yet, but it's pretty charming, yes?

Sounds good.

Yeah, the premise is that if I plan on actually seeing this backlog completed I need to focus on a few things:

1) Not forcing myself to play through games that I genuinely do not enjoy. Yeah, it sucks that I lost some money into them, but it doesn't have to be brutal if I can rid myself of it early enough.

2) Stop buying games that I *think* I'll like based on arbitrary factors. I was notorious for this about Atlus/Nis America games because they're rare, sell out fast, and all have elements that I tend to enjoy. History has shown though that I don't care for many of them.

3) Stop trying to force myself to like a game JUST because I have it. I know it seems similar to 1, but it's something that causes me unnecessary guilt and the "need" to buy and play games in those series (Tales of and Dragon Quest come to mind), so I'm going to just stop trying to love those games and be done with them.

Well, originally I had put the words "For Sale" in the comments of each game I wanted to sell, thinking I could search by the comments, but the search only looks for games with comments, not searches the words in those comments, so I was fooled. But I'm just going to end up putting the "subscription" tag on them, and just using that. Makes sense, since it's a coin icon, and it's the fastest way to find them.

Of note, if you're looking for anything in particular, let me know directly. The prices I have listed all over the place are basically the maximum I've seen them, with the idea that I'd negotiate with people, so please don't be alarmed if you see shit way overpriced. It's intentional.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
Cursed: 10+ new games in a row
I'm finding myself pretty bored by most of 5mash's content already. Regular Smash is still fun, but unless I'm in a party environment or some such, I usually prefer playing games that have compelling single-player content. Smash Ultimate is very good at the casual, and average-to-bad at the rest imo.

I guess that's fine if you think it's just playing to its strengths, but I also think Smash is a lot of things to a lot of people. I like single-player Smash, I think there's a lot of room for creativity. It's just not here this time, and like you, I'm more apathetic. I'm not offended or distraught that I don't care for Smash Ultimate's content at large - whatever, it's still a fun party game and that's what I really bought it for.

Of course, it's easy to call it a loss when I also just started Red Dead 2 lol.

I saw that the new Smash wasn't agreeing with you. Now that I've had it for a while, I agree.

It just seems bloated. Adventure mode takes an eternity, there are ~70 distinct Classic modes that are like 5% different from each other, and somehow it seems like it's missing content? There's no coin battle, break the targets, home run contest, board the platforms - the biggest travesty of all is that Adventure mode is single-player when Subspace Emissary let you have a partner in Brawl.

Unlocking characters is bland. I actually tend to like the unlocking process, it evokes my JRPG tendencies, but this many characters? They don't even have special unlock conditions, it's just a slot machine of hoping your favorite pops up early.

Maybe I'm being too hard on it. There's a lot of good too, I think it controls better than the rest of the series (unless you count technical Melee but that's hardly comparable for the average player), I like-if-not-love the new characters, I appreciate adding the cut characters like Pichu back in, I think the Spirit system is mechanically interesting, and the attention to detail for the Spirit challenges have all been great in my experience.

But it all feels like a new paintjob applied to a broken down car. It's pretty, it's impressive, it's fairly nice - but peel back the paint and you'll see how much still needs work. The style is there and it's fantastic, but the substance could be much better imo.

Based on what I see online it seems like gacha-like system was slapped into the game.

Not really interested in the game myself I just got bored of it over time. Melee was my favorite but after that the interest just slowly diminished.

I can understand the nostalgic sense of unlocking character but it's ridiculous when it's so much to do if you only have a select few characters you really want to dive into. Should be optional with a simple click to unlock everything with a warning of "sense of unlocking will be gone!" nonsense.
