★★★★★ Even though this never (and probably never will) officially make it outside of Japan, this was definitely worth the wait. This definitely improves on the formula the first Retro Game Challenge/Game Center CX game set, especially with a lot of the extras like the Daily Challenges and 'Training Game'. Even though I admit to downloading the ROM and English patch, I would've been more than happy to drop $30-40 on this if there was an official English release just because it's that good.

Oh, forgot to ask you. What do you think of Better Call Saul?

From before it aired, I knew it wasn't going to be as masterful as Breaking Bad. But honestly, some episodes left me pleasantly surprised. Like the Mike-centric episode with his son; that was easily BB quality.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I happened to notice that Backloggery awarded me a medal for a majority of my games in my list being counted as Beaten (or Completed?)... I take it it hasn't seen my Steam, GOG, and maybe even 360/3DS digital download libraries since I tend to forget to add games on here that I've bought from them. I should probably fix that ASAP so I can get a better idea of how much time I spend not gaming and doing "important" stuff like work.

Holy crap, in 10 days I will have been on this site for 5 years... And, I'm sure this is my most visited site (which is sad considering that I should be reading news sites more often to keep up with what's going on in the world).

I already have Reach, so I will indeed be playing it. I still need to pick up ODST and Halo 4, but I should have a few weeks before it's time for those. As for the Zelda series, I've played enough to know that they're awesome games. I've played a good chunk of Link's Awakening and most of Ocarina of Time, for instance, but I never got around to beating them. I got stuck on both games and it was during a time when we didn't have all of the great video walkthroughs and whatnot, so I kinda gave up on them and moved on to other things. I definitely plan on playing through them soon, though. Sadly, the exact same thing happened with Final Fantasy VIII. I got lost trying to find the antagonist on the world map in an airship and I eventually gave up. I want to give that another shot in the near future. Same goes for FF7, although that one wasn't my fault. My last disc was scratched and then I lost my copy of the game when I moved several years ago. I'm not a big fan of playing ROMs, so I never ended up finishing the story, although I do know what happens.

Anyway...yeah, Zelda 2 was definitely a fair bit harder than the first game. Most of the game didn't really even make any sense, but I loved the music for it and there was something I enjoyed about the little towns. But I was definitely only able to beat it because I had it as a kid. Tough games were the norm back then. I beat the first game when I was about 5 or 6...nowadays, I can't get through it without a Game Genie. I just don't have that kind of patience anymore. Anyway, I'm rambling. I need to go to bed so I can get enough sleep before my son's soccer game.

Ha ha, yeah, I'm one of the few people who was genuinely excited about getting Halo 3 for free because I had never played it. I have played multiplayer on a few of these games, so I'm not completely inexperienced and I'm familiar with the controls and everything, but this is my first time actually playing through the storylines. I had put it off for so long because when the game originally came out, I didn't like first-person shooters (with GoldenEye probably being the only exception) and I especially didn't like that enemies are basically bullet sponges. And then when I finally warmed up to the FPS genre after playing BioShock, I had so many other games I wanted to try first.

My friends have been somewhat obsessed with Halo multiplayer lately and the gameplay has grown on me, so I figured I would finally try out the singleplayer. I'm only a few chapters in because I decided to start replaying them on Legendary, but I like it so far. And although it doesn't really have any practical use, I love that I can switch between Classic and Remastered on the fly via Kinect. Now I just have to beat this and then work my way through the rest of the series. Then I'll probably eventually pick up the Master Chief Collection and play through that as well.

I still need to do the same thing with the Legend of Zelda series. I've only played a few of those games, despite owning like 5 or 6 of them. And of those, I've only beaten the first two on the NES...

It's not as tied into the movies and books as the other games so you don't need to be a super LOTR fan to get into it. The combat is amazingly satisfying, and the whole nemesis system adds waaaay more personality to orcs than I thought possible.

Re: Forbidden Forest - Haha believe it or not, the game was made by a composer. That sound design was pretty state of the art in 1980-whenever!

Those spiders were HORRIFYING to me, I played the game when I was probably 8 or 9. But even worse was the snake monster towards the end, I don't know if the playthrough shows it, but if you get hit by his acid the player just dissolves down to two stump legs.

Forbidden Forest was a nightmarish acid trip. I haven't looked it up in ages, but there are videos on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j86veyiIcS8

The game was crazy. Apparently it was an 8-bit Atari game too.

The C64 had a ton of cool games, including some really oddball ones that stuck with me like Impossible Mission and Forbidden Forest, which seemed really dark and gory at the time.

I have no idea how our friends got ahold of these games, as we lived in a pretty rural area and nobody was on BBSes or anything that I know of.
