Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers
Main plot is :B:! That was delightful, even though I felt that some middle parts were a bit all over the place and [cont.]

☆★★★★ a bunch of it feels like one long sidequest while the plot in the Source (which I'm just more invested in) is put on hold. But there were many great character moments, my favourite villain yet, tasty lore bits and some really touching stuff both in the msq and the sidequests. Definitely looking forward to going back for more!

Hey! With the PS3 version, each route is complete (which is why it's very long for each one) but in the vita remakes, it's split just after the half way point (and before most of the romance happens). In Kyoto Winds your decisions influence which route you take (it's been a year since I last played it) from what I can remember but in Edo Blossoms you can go straight in and select which route you want once you go to New Game. When you start it gives you a brief recap of what happened in KW too. So because of this it cuts out the repetition since nearly every route is different and there's only some minor cross-over. I found Edo Blossoms to be much shorter than KW though and because of it being split it didn't have the same impact that the PS3 version did when I first played that a couple of years back.

Most of the new routes though are really good! Yamazaki's was my favourite, followed by Sakamoto. I found Nagakura's route to be disappointing and just kind of "meh" overall sadly. The rest of the guys are pretty interesting though. Including the original routes, I found the best/most interesting ones to be Heisuke>Harada>Yamazaki but Saito is still my favourite character. I did like it overall though! And I can definitely understand why they had to split the two games since it is pretty long overall. However, I'd still recommend the PS3 version if you're not bothered about the new guys since everything is on one disk, and they also included the fandisk extra content for each route which was really enjoyable and that's missing in the vita versions.

As far as I've heard, the Dusk games are relatively void of that? Which is part of the reason that trilogy appeals to me more than Arland, but since that one came first I'd like to try it before Dusk. A dozen examples over 30 hours does seem a little hefty for me, though.

Ohhh, ew, yeah I remember hearing something about all of those things and it really made me feel weird about the game. I also saw that scene with Tiffany and was so uncomfortable. I still want to eventually try the game, but truthfully some of those things held me back a little. One or two things here are one thing, but having numerous add up is a little discouraging.
