Yes, when I did my replay of ME1 in anticipation of 2's release I didn't make it all the way to 60. Too much fckn exp. And of course ME2 doesn't care if you're 59, you have to make it to 60 to get that final extra level and be able to hit 30 on your first time through.

watched stalker. strange film, but great. visually/aurally it was probably perfect. some of the shots were so good, i went back and rewatched right away. the underwater slow panning especially. very well made and v interesting overall.
and yeah a few neat things from the film that i think the game definitely used as inspiration. throwing bolts to check if an area is safe before moving forward is one. its actually pretty dangerous to just aimlessly run fast across the zone because of all the anomalies, some of which are quite hard to see. so you get an infinite supply of bolts to throw. so it forces you to take things slow like those dudes were doin in the film.

yea man, stalker is pretty xtreme. it is probably one of the most difficult games i've ever played. quick saving a lot. partly because there's a level of realism involved in the game that i had to get used to. basically, if you take a couple bullets you're dead - same goes for enemies too (cept for mutants). because you never level up or gain exp, the difficulty is constant and even random lone mercs/soldiers can potentially kill you easily. so often it's way better to do your best to avoid encounters/run away and play stealthy the whole way thru.
i guess it's easy to compare it to fallout just because of the setting, but it really is quite different. 'the zone' is oppressive and alien. nothing quirky or funny about it. there is almost never a time that you feel totally 'safe'. even places with other stalker bros might get raided by bandits or mutants at any time. the atmosphere in general is amazing. i really like stuff like this -> [Link] . campfire with stalker bros, playing acoustic guitar, drinking vodka etc
the only thing that i find disappointing is that the sidequests are never really worth it. unlike fallout or whatever where you gain exp, in stalker the quest rewards are pretty crap most of the time. kinda feels as if its bettr not to do them just to save your precious ammo.

the game is actually a bit harder for me than normal because i installed this mod called 'oblivion lost' that adds a bunch of cool shit, but also makes the game harder. installed it because of this, [Link] . happens randomly throughout the game. radioactive emissions, gotta run and take shelter real quick. happened a few times in my game already. was tubular

so yea i'm enjoying it a lot. because of this mod, i think it might even be a bit too difficult for me really, but i'm stickin with it.

yea that ranch is cool. barely used the lucky 38 room last time myself. was mostly sleeping at random places. when i start my next game, think i'll have my home setup at that sniper spot - where you find the gobi.or maybe the campsite with trailers and water supply just outside goodsprings. somewhere out in the open anyway, legit wildman style.
also this week the first dlc is coming out. are you gonna get it?

i like the setting/plot progression a little more. gameplay is better in new vegas, but i think setting tips it for me.
