Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
Confused: Playing 10+ games at once
Thanks for the heads up!! I'll keep all that in mind- will complete the games before watching the anime!
Yeah, I do know of Umineko but in name only really. I'm happy to hear good things, so perhaps I'll check it out when I'm done w/ Higurashi

Shion is soo cool haha. Man I *really* empathize with her in Ch 5 thus far. It's been heartbreaking but compelling to read. (also I just gotta say, the new art is great but I am SUCH a fan of how unique the original art style is.)
It's hard for me to pick a favorite character... I think Satoko or Rika maybe? Because of how well they've been written. Also with the context that I have in mind from Satoko's and Rika's endings in their respective chapters.

Aww, thank you! I appreciate it hehe.
Oh man, I'm so excited to meet another Higurashi fan :3 I've really been enjoying this part as heartbreaking as it is. It's been so so so fun exploring the story through this sort of parallel timeline method. I've always been a fan of games that play with timelines or have cool mechanics surrounding them, but these games have been such a treasure! I haven't attempted the anime though, because that seems like a whole other can of worms

Cursed: 10+ new games in a row
Hi! I saw ur comment on my profile and I don't think I've answered yet ;-;
I randomly disappear sometimes so yeah hehe. Reko is honestly in my top 5. I'm VERY excited for Part 2. Especially to see the final main game. And yes, Phoenix Wright games are good. Definitely recommend!

The way Satoko is written and portrayed is infuriating, I think. I feel like making her the victim of child abuse is a very cheap tactic to make the reader feel sorry for her, or feel bad about disliking her. It's excusing - or attempting to justify - her badly-written and generally annoying presence. That a lot of the drama in the VN centers around her abuse doesn't help matters either. I was hoping for more from a lot of the characters in Sotsu - Satoshi and Shion in particular. Chapter 5 of Higurashi was easily my favourite and I would have liked a little more exposition in that particular direction. One of Sotsu's problems was that it focused too much on characters and/or scenarios that were already pretty well-covered in the VNs. Rika's story was pretty much resolved though, and Satoko had more than enough attention in the VNs; focusing on them for the anime was a mistake.

Well, I think the Questions Arcs are definitely worth a read, but of the Answers arcs only Requiem, the third part, is really worth bothering with. I think most things are worth a try so if you're interested then go for it, but be prepared to hate Maria more than Satoko, and if you didn't like Eua in Sotsu then you're going to suffer a lot in the Answers Arcs. Then there is the very existence of Erika...

It might do, personally I found Resi 2 and 3 much more responsive...although that's the only positive thing I have to say about Resi 3. But I think that's just a side effect of hardware improving, because it's not something unique to Resi: Mass Effect handles much better on PS4 than it did on PS3/Xbox, and I think the N64 Zelda games control much better on the 3DS too. Doesn't Resi 4 - or some versions of it anyway, might just be the HD version - feature dynamic difficulty? I'm not sure if that applies to Professional Mode or not though, since you can only unlock that after finishing the game once it might only apply to Normal as a way of ensuring that people can actually finish the game at all, since they took Easy out of some of the versions. But yeah, the Island section is easily the weakest part of Resi 4. I was never all that keen on the Krauser fight either.

Looks OK to me! I mean, it's not eye-blisteringly painful green or anything, and it sets off nice against the brown background.

As for Sotsu...I found it interesting as a way to explore alternate scenarios we never got to see in the VN, but it wasn't what I would call Steins;Gate 0 level of quality or anything. They could have done so much more with it. Watching it week-by-week was an absolute nightmare. It did feel a little too gratuitous with the violence at times too, yeah. At least comparatively speaking. I've seen worse, but it didn't really feel necessary. But I think part of that is because the VN leaves it up your imagination, which is generally better at concocting horror than any visual aid. Ironically that made it too tame, despite it being excessive.
But those Umineko links, my god. I despised Umineko (well, the Answers Arcs part at least) and I did not want to see Higurashi linked to it further. Sotsu closed the gap quite a bit and I did not appreciate it at all. I also don't like Satoko as a character and the excessive focus on her was off-putting. It felt like it was capitalising on the popularity of the work rather than adding anything meaningful to it.

Hey! Thank you, I'm still in the process of adding stuff too, haha. Once I get my Steam Deck that section will balloon once I decide what I'm going to play and what I'm going to ignore. xD
I played Resi 0 through to 5 last year, Resi 4 was actually my 100th blog entry! If you're interested in more in-depth thoughts fresh from when I played it last: [Link] The short version is that unlike a lot of popular, genre-defining/changing titles, I actually love it! I'm hoping that we'll see a remake with Resi 2/3 style controls for the current generation consoles, because I feel that it could really benefit from it. I have yet to play the Switch version though, so if we don't hear anything before Halloween I'll probably give in to temptation and try it out, it's one of those games I can just replay without getting bored halfway through.

I see you're a Higurashi fan - have you seen the latest anime arc? If so, what did you think of it?
