Herald of Bak'laag: 500+ unfinished games
Treasure Hunter: 1000+ games
On Fire: 3 beat or complete in a row
Absolutely! Kind of a shame Hundred Heroes is only coming out in 2023, but at least we've got Rising coming next year. In my opinion, it turns out developing an action sidescroller RPG to introduce us to to the characters and world we'll get to experience deeper on Hundred Heroes was a great idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Master of Unlocking: Majority of games are completed
Holy crap, well I was already interested in 13 Sentinels but you totally sold me on it. I'll definitely look into that soon. My wife and I are currently sharing the PS4 a lot more these days as we've both got games we wanna see on there, so I've been enjoying seeing her playing Yakuza Kiwami and Metal Gear Solid a lot in between trying for the Dark Souls 3 platinum. Which I got, by the way! Hooray! My hands are broken now. But yes, I'll 100% try it out properly.

I tried to play it a little while ago and I really loved the vibe and the art style of it, but I had so much work to do at that time I just couldn't afford to get into an RPG back then. I remember thinking it seemed really unique, though. I often think that games that fly under the radar with popularity are some of the absolute best of the best, so I'm not surprised it didn't get appreciated that much. It sounds like a truly hidden gem. Generally speaking I do prefer Japanese voice acting where possible, but I love a good dub, too. I'll give it a look and let you know. I remember your Backlog looked really cool with the layout you had themed around it.

That'll be awesome about the servers. I played on Hades for a little while a few years ago, and the ping wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...but I also had a terrible laptop for a long time, so I think it made me battle hardened when it came to FFXIV, hahaha. As you say, better late than never. I'm thinking about going back and trying again on my alt character as I started to have a real good time with Gunbreaker before I decided to put it down again for a while. The new jobs look really cool, too.

Man, playing games...? I dunno about that. You're crazy!

You're welcome for the recommendation though, my pleasure! PS2 definitely has tons of hidden gems for sure, I totally agree. Gregory Horror Show was one of my favourite games when I was 12-13 and I still love it. There are some spooky parts in it, but I think from one "I'm looking through the cracks of my fingers at the screen" horror fan to another, you should be just fine playing it. What about you, do you have any recs lately? Or obscurer ones, of course.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the exact same boat. I've struggled with getting back into it for some reason. Still, I'm looking forward to Endwalker and hopefully we can both enjoy it a little more. I've been working a lot more again lately too which means even less time to be lazy in Eorzea.

I'm glad to hear you're doing okay. I'm alright too, thanks. It's just been really warm here so I don't want to do anything lol.

Hmm, regarding your shout about games, I think a totally underrated game (that I personally loved a LOT) was Gregory Horror Show on PS2. Do you know about it? I think over time it's been kind of a slow burn because it was only released in Japan and Europe, as well as being pretty out there with its visuals. It was awesome though, I absolutely loved how weird and spooky it was. I remember that we mutually aren't very good at horror games for the scares hahaha, but this is definitely something I'd recommend to anyone looking for a unique and good time.

Backlog Beaten: March 25, 2019
Master of Unlocking: Majority of games are completed
Re: your recommendation idea, Pharaoh Rebirth+ really comes to mind, especially as something that "deserves more attention". It's a Japanese indie metroidvania title with solid, polished gameplay and some very funny dialogue in MGS-inspired codec calls.

I think it does a couple things which make 100%-ing it really appealing and enjoyable. First, the majority of the items in the game are unique; so instead of getting something like a Missile Upgrade, maybe you'll find a Statue Of Isis, or a Bath Towel, or a Dust Roller. Since everything is unique, you never really know what anything does until you actually read it's description. I thought this made tracking everything down fresh and exciting. Secondly, the game is smartly broken up into distinct stages which can revisited at any time. I found this to really cut down on the backtracking which Metroidvanias can be full of, while still keeping the fun of revisiting old areas with new powerups.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I still stand by what we discussed before in an earlier Twitter DM discussion on the topic. Titles like Pokémon Black/White and Tsukihime are well worth experiencing and deserving of more attention (especially the latter), if that someone has an interest in RPGs or VNs. I don't exactly remember if I had mentioned it back then, but I would say Xenoblade Chronicles (DE) as well for it's compelling story, characters, and excellent soundtrack of course.

And as of recent with my massive interest in Touhou, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lotus Land Story. Shmups are likely a genre that more casual-oriented players would second-guess on playing, but LLS' level of overall challenge is friendly enough that it is not too highly intimidating (IMO, on a Normal mode difficulty perspective). This is subject to change as I work my way through the later Windows-era Touhou entries, so we'll see.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
First of all, thanks! It's been a stressful time, but I'm glad that I can now sleep better at night and not worry about studies (at least for the immediate time being). Even better that things with them yielded good results.

You can absolutely say that again about Touhou's music! It's no exaggeration at all when I say that I've just about been exclusively listening to all the core game's OSTs over and over again on YT these past couple months. I can't fathom how ZUN manages to keep delivering such masterful sounds for his games, it's simply mind-blowing!

And that's perfectly fine too, about casually observing LW from a distance. I think it could be a good idea actually, since there'll be a lot more content available to dig into (when the future day comes that you do wish to download it again). Not to mention, that gacha game hell truly is a formidable barrier when it comes to cutting down on one's huge backlog of games (haha)!

Right Hand of Bak'laag: 1000+ unfinished games
Treasure Hunter: 1000+ games
Poisoned: 3+ new games in a row
If they're into (J)RPGs at all, my go to would probably be SMT IV.

Otherwise Raging Blasters has been on my mind a lot lately.

Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
For any mutuals who see this, if you had to pick one game to recommend to someone, what would it be? Doesn't have to be your absolute favourite game of all time necessarily, it could just be something you feel deserves more attention or you really enjoyed.

Been working on making a list of friend's recommendations to slowly work through over time. I've already asked a couple of you from here, but if you've changed your answer between now and then, feel free to let me know.
You don't need a reason to help people.
