At least with the PS1 Classic you can mod it to be not as bad, I think. I don't have one so I don't really know about any of that. I had emulated Revelations: Persona but I have been playing the waiting game to pick up a copy of the game. I have decided to settle for disk only and get a repro case because it will be so much cheaper. My very slow playthrough of Megami Ibunroku Persona is on my Japanese PS2 though. Personally, I don't mind the PSP version. Sure, the fact that the new OST is smaller than the original sucks but at least imo the dialogue flows a lot more naturally. I do agree that the new OST just does not fit the game. At least with the PSP verisons of P2 you can switch between the original ost and the new one (which is not as different). Speaking of if..., have you played it at all? I am partway through but it's such a slog I'm not really sure if I'll finish it. I haven't played all of the SNES Megaten games but I think I can confidently say it's on the lower end of quality.

If I do end up playing the PS1 FF ports, it'll probably be the PS1 classic versions so I can play them on my PSP/Vita. But yeah, it'll be interesting to see FF5's especially because that's the one I've heard so much about - How terrible it is especially compared to the fan translation of the SNES version.

At least it isn't so bad with Echoes yeah, but with Jugdral they just don't care. Or they really care about making sure the names are as different as possible. I play FE Heroes so I'm exposed to that nonsense but I stay far away from the likes of r/fireemblem because of their attitude not just about names but about the pre-Awakening games too. I don't use Project Naga or whatever new patches there are because of that (also bookofholsety not even being consistent with what names he's using). The old patches from circa 2007 work just fine, other than Shaya's FE5 patch being a little funky.

I think a lot of people don't give P1 a chance because of its unconventional battle system. It's different sure, but it's not really used to its full potential. I'd be curious to see what direction Atlus would take a full remake of P1&2. Would it be faithful to the original games or would it be more new-Persona styled? And in P1's case, would it have the full PS1 ost? I hope so, at any rate. I mostly bought PQ2 for FeMC actually, ha. Though I am disappointed with her implementation (and the fact that she is just kinda bad). I like Q1 a lot but Q2 was a big let down to me. I didn't get very far (End of Labyrinth 2) before I set it aside for later.

Thanks for the recs! I have played the PSP versioon of 4 actually though I didn't really enjoy it that much. I played a bit of the SFC version of 5 but maybe I'll go back to it soon! I also sorta want to play the PS1 version just to see the crappy translation for myself .

I'll keep that in mind . I think the biggest obstacle to my enjoyment of Echoes would be the name changing that Treehouse is so obsessed with. I like FE12 but I can understand why people don't. Shadow Dragon is a bad remake though.

I'm a bit anxious about Jugdral remakes but I hear Echoes was pretty good though I don't plan on playing it any time soon. I don't actually have a Switch right now but my brother does and I would like to get one at some point. I have heard nothing but good things about Three Houses so I definitely have some interest in it. If I did have a Switch I'd probably give it a shot.

I named Narukami Duke Nukem as a joke but now he is Duke to me. That's what I named him in PQ and PQ2. It was pretty funny seeing characters call him "Duke-kun" or "Nukem-chan". Also, fair enough about P4. I browse r/megaten occasionally and people there have talked about Golden vs. Vanilla. Yeah, there are a lot of not so good things but there are some good changes. I think one big plus (for me, anyway) is that P4G is portable. Also, I like P1 a lot.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with what I played of FF13 (I think I got to Chapter 2? I forget. It's been a few years.) So I don't think I'll go back to it. I'm not a huge FF person either so I tend to not really focus on them. However, I did really like FF6 and FF9. The last FF game I was actively playing was FF1 NES which has been slow going but I've been powering through it.
