So here we go with 2022 and I have a new system in place for chipping away at what has become a monster. My backlog only keeps growing and it is because so many games get released in a year and I have a bad tendency to get the ones I want for them to ultimately sit around until I get to them. So what I am doing this time is I am limiting myself and creating a kind of reward system. For every 5 games I have never beaten before, I am allowed a new game. I am hoping this will workout better than in previous years. We will see. I am aiming for 100 games this year which is kind of ambitious since I haven’t done over 100 since 2013. This year I am shooting to break 100 and maybe even break my old record of 103.

2020 was a good year for me unlike for most people, but once again, it was so busy due to grad school, the pandemic, and juggling multiple responsibilities and hobbies at once. My backlog only increased from the looks of it and I failed to bring it under 50%. There are no promises but I am focusing really hard this year to get it down under 50%. idk how many games I have to beat in order to do that but I am shooting for 100 bare minimum. Pretty certain beating 100 games this year will push it under 50%. I am focusing primarily on my backlog this year. There will be some repeats more than likely. I am still in the process of updating my backlog from games I acquired last year. Most of them are either digital games or older titles I got for the NES or Sega Saturn. It should be fun.

Start of a New Year and that means the start of kicking some ass on this backlog. That is going to be a daunting task this year but I really need to make a huge dent in my backlog because it is only growing. I want this under 50% but I know that will take a pretty massive effort. That being said, I am going to still shoot for it. Last year I didn't beat nearly as many games as I wanted to primarily because I focused on a lot of RPGs (just seems to be happening with these super long games). This year I am going to mostly be focusing on a lot of retro titles that I have never beaten, especially the really difficult games that have eluded me. Things like Ninja Gaiden II & III, Battletoads, Zelda II, and basically things that are "Nintendo Hard."

I am also under no illusion that I may just fail again this year to bring it below 50%. As of the 13th, I am back in Grad School right now and have an Graduate Assistantship as a TA to go with it. So I am going to be busy but I am also going to be pushing pretty hard to get my game time in on a regular basis. Should be a lot of fun.
