Sure is! Shocking, I know. It's just one of those games that I always meant to get to but never did, you know? And now I thought well 2020 kinda feels like the end of the world so there's no better time to play a bucket list game!

I do follow him, actually! Max is one of the main reasons I became so interested in fighting games. Him and another youtuber/streamer, Woolie, have carried my interest in the genre for years now. It helps that they're both just really great guys, too. They shed such a positive light on the fighting game community, I can't help but be drawn into it. Woolie's somewhat recent Skullgirls videos are what made me decide to focus solely on one game instead of trying to play and learn a bunch of different fighters at once.

This clip of Woolie's career in Skullgirls getting absolutely decimated is one of the greatest things I've ever seen and one of the main reasons why I chose Skullgirls first: [Link]

Yep, I know that feeling all too well. I think if you can even find the slightest time to dedicate to some practice in the training modes, you'll definitely see improvement over time. I don't think you need to be playing for hours and hours each day, it's just a matter of doing it consistently. Every little bit helps, so if you've got the tools for it, I say go for it!

Also, I see you picked up Void Terrarium. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it if you get a chance to play it anytime soon. I had a few glimpses of it a while ago and it looked really neat, the art style is nice. I also wasn't aware there was a limited edition so now I'm just tempted to throw away logic and buy it before it has the chance to go out of stock.

Haha, thanks! I've always been fascinated by fighting games, but at the same time I've been too intimidated by them to actually try playing them. I just decided to take the plunge, so hopefully I'll figure them out as time goes on.

Love the theme, by the way! I had so much fun playing D3 back when it came out. I haven't played it for years, but it's definitely my favourite game of that genre (even though I've only played a couple of other games in that genre).

Why Thank You!

Some games, I've had for a while. I bought them cheap and they have just gone up in a value since I have bought them. Others, like DuckTales 2, I just decided to splurge on. For example, I bought Suikoden II for about $120 and it has been worth every penny. If it is a game I want and know I will enjoy, then I don't mind paying a ton for. Granted, I haven't really gone splurging as about $125 seems my limit. I'm not in the position to pay $1K for Little Samson.

Actually, with a collection as large as yours, I can imagine deciding on what to play can be a gigantic task. When you have so many games, it can probably be quite daunting. Some helpful advice, but the Fortune Cookie is a simple way of choosing, though that can be rather uncaring.

An idea would be to look at what consoles you have easy access to. That should narrow down what you have to choose from. Also, decide what kind of genre you are in the mood for as that will eliminate even more games. Then, once you make a selection, stick with it. A friend of mine used to be like that and he would jump from game to game. Find something that piques your interest and is the first of the series () and just play it. Play it for a while and then suddenly, you are playing games again. Most importantly, just keep trying until something sticks!

It's actually pretty easy to get Dragon Quest X going outside Japan. You just need a Japanese Square-Enix Members account, which is easy to set up, and if playing on console, you also need to have a Japanese account for PSN or whatever (also easy to set up). There have been IP blocks on the game that have come and gone, making it so people outside Japan couldn't log in unless they were using a VPN that gave them a Japanese IP address (not hard, but does cost a service charge to use a VPN). But it seems like the IP ban has been silently down for around a year now, requiring no special workarounds.

I will be playing the game with Lyndis, who is very good at Japanese, so that should help. I also decided to finally start studying Japanese myself, especially because I understand that the writing in Dragon Quest games is supposed to be simple enough for everyone young to old to understand, so it is probably a good place to reinforce any study.

You don't have to buy another Mini. Just look up Project Lunar and you can put ROMS onto it...say, other regions, 32X, SMS, GG, and even Sega CD games (need a big USB and CHD files), along with old Nintendo games if you really want, though I use my SNES Mini for this.

There are translations for a lot of Genesis games (and Saturn games, which I just burn any play on my modded Saturn) on Romhacking.

That's a lot of content to play through in D3, if you go both male and female characters. How long have you been playing D3 already? How is your overall progress?

I know, I'm trying to. I'm purposely trying to get more single player games and I actually check the trophies before I buy games now.

The ones I do have are amazing so far -- I have 167 Platinums, which I didn't think was possible years ago. And I Platinum'ed some very hard and famous games like Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Warhawk, Starhawk, Twisted Metal, and Red Faction Guerrilla among others.

I actually rented it back in the day myself! However, I didn't have the thing that lets you save, and I wasn't able to beat the game before I had to return it (I think I got like 3/4 of the way through? I remember beating Nepty). I sought it out as an adult because I decided to finish what I started, but boy, it didn't age very well! It's cheap, though, so if you want to see for yourself, it wouldn't set you back much. I'd understand if you'd rather keep your fond(?) childhood memories of it, though.

It's easily the longest JRPG I've ever played. Quite a bit of my playtime was spent on optional stuff, but I still can't imagine beating it in less than 90-100 hours. Then again, I'm pretty slow. So I guess I can understand all the people online who apparently beat it in 70-80 hours or even less. But hey, that's still a really, really long game!
Thank goodness you've returned! Much has changed since you lived here, my friend.
