The PS3 one runs pretty poorly. The xbox one about 30% better, but both at a noticeable worse frame rate than the PS2 game.

I don't quite get Crayon Physics. I was expecting a sort of drawing equivalent to Scribblenauts on a significantly smaller scale, but instead you basically just make straight lines for bridges or depend on trial and error with swinging hinge golf clubs. Don't get me wrong; it's fun, but just kind of disappointing. Maybe I'm not far enough into it yet to see the really neat stuff.

Agreeing with Philia, awesome work on the theme (though I am in no way surprised).

Mario Sports Mix, really?

I got it off of Ubisoft's community website, they feature fanart on there from time to time and this one caught my eye for some reason

I suppose a big part of my ire towards the new look was because I obviously tried to recreate my old characters, which proved impossible. So I settled for making new characters and got stuck trying to create a cute female face. The more I fiddled with it, the more disturbing it started to look, and each time I would come to the conclusion that it looks like a man's face.

That, and the faces that looked good close up (eyes and nose especially) ended up looking completely different on stage at a distance, and it bothered the hell out of me. I eventually did manage to make two girls I was satisfied with. After deleting a few dozen characters ;_;

Either way the stage performances just lack energy. The song selection is still incredible, though.

Well it's little things that started bothering me and the game has lost some of its atmosphere and personality because of this. They're the stuff that made RB1 and 2 so magical for me personally, so I would never say 3 is poor game.

I'm sure from a strictly gameplay point of view it's probably the better game. The new effects on the charts is probably to make them easier to read, but it makes for less satisfying visual feedback when your chart no longer pulses with life and color as you travel through the tracks. I understand someone probably found it distracting, so the effect for activating overdrive is slighter, but it lacks life for me.

The same way the characters have more detail, but everything looks rubbery and much more lifeless than the cartoony characters in 1 and 2. Take the drummer for instance. The beginning of Maps is so wonderful because of that beautiful drummer animation, when you see them bang on those notes and you come in with the guitar. Animation of the drummer in RB3 looks very stiff and robotic in comparison. I first thought it was just that the DLC tracks don't translate that well to the RB3 engine, but the on-disc songs don't fare much better. The drummer doesn't look like they're hitting the drums with the swing and passion they should.

It's minor things that don't affect the core game, really. My issues with the game seem completely at odds with some of the negative feedback on some forums I've seen for 3.

I don't mind the new structure or the lack of money collecting etc. I enjoy the RB2 tour, but the animations and wonderful, wonderful visual style are a huge part of the vibrant personality and charm of the experience for me, so the performances in RB3 lack energy and atmosphere for me, so the playing experience is diminished.

I think it's well summed up by the intro animations alone. The RB1 animation is probably the greatest opening intro in any game, ever. It's magnificent, hilarious and stylish as hell. I can't NOT watch it every time I boot up the game.

The RB2 intro is equally wonderful. I at first didn't love it, but it's grown on me and it fits the personality of the game really well. Plus I like the rerecorded Hello There over the original.

The RB3 intro has great choice of music and it's directed well, but the live-actors and overal style make it less exciting and fun. More realism and detail, less charming anarchy and cheeky humor. I just has less soul~

Indeed I did. But the multiplayer, despite the lag and spawning issues, is the best in the series since MW1. WaW had shit maps, and MW2 was so bad it hurt.

This is a touch more manageable. It's better. It's fun. And there's a surprising amount of content here. *shrug*

Such an amazing game!! The ending is amazing. And yes, the soundtrack is my 5th most listened to album evar. Love love love Akira Yamaoka.

Ah right, yeah, I got reasonably decent with SFIV. I'm not sure I'm committed enough to getting that good this time around, especially with a few games like Red Dead Redemption and Split/Second coming up. I might try and fire it up at some point this week.

What? I've not played with you really, not more than like 1 or 2 games and that was on the evening that I opened the game up. Though you probably can beat me quite easily as I've still only played it like 3 or 4 times.
