I played FFXIV for a while, and the Triple Triad there is much more enjoyable than what FFVIII does with it. Which yeah, that makes sense.
Still got most of the rare cards though, and converting them into items did help by the end. Getting 100 Megalixirs from the Laguna card was particularly funny.
But yeah FF8 is just... Not a great time. The draw system was a mistake and brings an already slow-paced game to an absurd tedious crawl. Like when I fought, Biggs, Wedge and Elvoret early on, they had tons of spells to draw, so what should have been a 2-3 minutes fight took me over 40 minutes.
Just kind glad I finally beat it, but I'm never, ever touching that game again.
