Confused: Playing 10+ games at once
I would have liked that too! But apparently they'd lost the original midi files so that might have something to do with their non-inclusion x3

Hi there! Nice to meet you
You're right, Valken Declassified is extremely brutal. M2 has done a terrific job on this remaster, adding a translated guide too, but even following the tips and tricks on the guide, it's still incredibly hard.

Black Sabbath is good stuff; I do tend to lean more toward rock than full-blown metal, but I do enjoy a fair amount of femme metal: Luna Mortis, La Ventura; that kind of thing. Sometimes, I jokingly say that's because I lived through the '80s, when metal was kinda like... [Link] ya know. I'm kind of a fussy pain in the ass when it comes to music, and I've got weird taste on top of it; my favorite 3 bands are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Talking Heads, and Birthday Massacre in ascending order. I like at least a little from most any genre, though... unless it's polka; polka can go die in a fucking fire. Weird Al's fine, though.

But yes, hopefully, you can get yourself on that path, soon! It can get rough, so if you ever need to talk about serious shit or just have me make some dumbass joke as a quick blink out of bullshit reality, you know where to find me.

Oh, Cybernator! That one I always confuse with Cybernoid! I've actually been inspired to give that one another shot, after seeing it on quwebs's channel. I've started listening to more music lately, too; last Saturday, I stayed up late listening to some of my old Birthday Massacre albums, like a moody goth girl. It tracks; I was basically Wednesday Addams in high school. Ooooo, yeah, that's a tough one, too... The wastelands of Rural Pennsylvania isn't queer-friendly, either, so the 2 of us just kinda keep to ourselves, but luckily, this area is rural enough that everyone else does that, too; we've been out here quite a few years longer than I've been on Backloggery, and we still haven't met most of our neighbors. Best of luck finding a safe, cozy place to live.

It's good at sneaking up behind you and clubbing you upside the head, isn't it? All I heard growing up is how nobody has time for anything anymore, and then all of a sudden, I was living it. In any case, it's always good to see you again.

Assault Suits Valken sounds really familiar; is that the one that originally came out for the Genesis, but then got a huge remaster seemingly out of nowhere? I think it was called Target Earth? Right now, I'm going through Chasm, myself; it's mostly good, because it follows Symphony of the Night very closely, but this latest area has some bullshit to it. It's okay for now, though, because I have some really old stuff to go through while I wait for my health to regenerate, like an old baby calendar that my parents found; funny story: I was actually baptized on April Fools' Day, which might be why I didn't just burst into white flames...

I was actually playing the original Metroid Prime just the other day; I've finally gotten off my ass and started backing up my GameCube games, so I've been messing with Dolphin and working out the kinks best I can. It's going a lot more smoothly than PlayStation did for me, but that was years ago; even that would be a lot easier now with things like DuckStation.

Live-A-Live is a favorite, too, though I don't have a Switch, so I've only played the SNES version. It might still be my all-time favorite game, but I haven't played it in ages, so I'd have to take some serious time weighing it against Anodyne 2 now.

Other than that, it's just been business as usual; been taking walks after midnight, and I've found a really unusual tea that I like, but that's about it. Hope all is well in your world.

I don't even expect perfect or academic grammar, least of all in casual conversation, but if you're putting out a published work, AT LEAST get the basics right; if even a casual reader can pick up on how badly written your book is, that's something that needs to be fixed.

Machine translations can be hilarious, though; definitely also not something you want in a published work, but good for a laugh, and also a good example of why AI-generated content shouldn't take over things made by actual people: they don't actually understand what they're doing.

That and I'd forgotten that 50 Shades of Gray was a thing. People keep telling me they'd like me to correct all the spelling and grammar mistakes to make it 50 Shades of Red. If I read more, I'll bet I'd find that publishing standards have gone down the tubes; I know spelling/grammar is atrocious online.

It's gotten to the point where it just makes the most sense not to preorder anything or buy it Day 1. Every big budget game is a broken mess that may or may not ever get fixed up to even being adequate, and most companies don't care, because they know most people are going to buy it anyway; reputation has become totally meaningless. Even if they do patch it, they still sold an unfinished product for $70 and then fixed it later. Imagine buying a book that has dozens of typos on every page, some of the pages just fall out because they're not bound properly, and you have to wait several months or even a year or two for the rest of the book to be finished, because the story abruptly ends at Chapter 5, and you have to pay extra for the remaining chapters whenever they come out. No other medium gets away with this.

Disappointing, but not super surprising to me; Bandai-Namco has become one of the worst major video game companies in recent years, starting with aggressive DRM that they never seem to remove from anything. Haven't gotten into the Tales franchise, myself - I tried Phantasia on SNES and didn't like it - but even I can tell from that review that this is a really bad port; how the HELL do you have 7-second loading screens after every battle in what is essentially a GameCube game!?
