Wow. Compared to last week, this week I was a completing maniac. Might have had to do with how short a bunch of the games were, but I managed to refine seven total gold medals from the copper and silver that I had sitting around. So, let us get into... (read more)

Hey, just read your blog comment on Gears of War, and I can confirm that Insane isn't too bad with a human partner. Much like Resident Evil 5, I find that the game is pretty good with a partner, but not so stellar otherwise. I'd also agree with your comment on the chargeable buster on MM4. I don't like it at all. Because of the sound limitations of NES games, charging overpowers the background music, so I hate to use it. On the other hand, the game is really freaking hard if you don't use it because of the damage scaling you mentioned. Charge shot works fine in the X games (in fact I like it there), but it does not work well in the classic series.

Good luck with Conker's Bad Fur Day. I haven't played it in about 8-9 years, but it was pretty enjoyable from what I remember. I'll be damned about the difficulty spikes in certain parts. I remember dying a lot just because I thought certain parts were unfair.

Yea, I can't seem to get a handle of the controls as well, though it's been about 2 mos since I last tried in earnest. Perhaps it will come to me the next time? Weird, I know.

How do you like the gameplay in MM8? I have it for the 'Cube and for some reason, despite repeated attempts (and keep in mind I've beaten 1-7), I can't beat a boss after the initial ball kicking intro stage!

Be grateful that it's a fairly short game, then. Provided you don't fuck up on killing the blue wolves/grabbing the transformation orbs when they first appear, it doesn't take long to get to the boss of each stage. Yeah, there's a bit of luck involved as far as proper placement goes (that plant thing in the second stage, for instance) but if you think you're too far gone in terms of health/lives, it doesn't take long to reset and get back up to where you were. It's a pain in the ass, but then, that's Altered Beast for you. ![]()

Think I might just agree with you on that. Altered Beast without any cheats, continues, or save states of any kind was a major pain in the ass, and I don't see myself playing the game again. Kihi, I'd like to see Try or Drumble justify playing through Altered Beast again...Shame about your note there. No matter, you got there once, you can get there again, right?
