I should probably stick to it, and I'll get better over time. My one experience using the Extra Stage system was trying to unlock the Heavy chart for Deadball de Homerun. I kept dying halfway into the song, and couldn't fill more than 1/6 meter per attempt. That's also with me playing 11-13 every game and since it's my upper limit, I'm absolutely terrible at timing better than a B+. I just wish it was a bit easier. By the time you can full combo a song, what's the point of even playing it? :C It just doesn't seem to be thought out all that well.

Heheh, I wouldn't say that IIDX is over. It could be partly due to the darker lanes. I noticed it affecting me really strongly when I was playing Double for my first game and it was really hard to read everything (I also came off of the Tricoro note, which I had been using for practically the entire year; possibly related). But in all, the first few games took me a while to find my stride again. And there's always Step Up! It's pretty good at doing what it does, and it helps you find the songs you need to work on without being punishing.

So what've you been playing lately? Lots of Monster Hunter? Or that Alphadia thing?

Yeah. I haven't quite nailed down my timing since I've been out of DDR so long, and I always played at home. I was more frustrated that I couldn't fill the unlock bar enough for the songs on heavy that I was looking to unlock. They apparently have the thing where you can overdrive the omes meter by getting it multiple times in one session, but since I only play up to 3 games a day, the unlocks come suuuuuuuper slooooooowly.

I haven't really thought about touchscreen gloves, since I haven't considered playing any touchscreen games more than casually. It seems like it'd be super nice though, because I can't imagine burning off ones fingertips being any good for tactile sensitivity. I even thought about using gloves for pop'n for a while, because it made it so much easier to move my hands around the buttons. I didn't stick with it for more than a session because it felt like cheating. It was pretty crazy how different it was to play.

I'd say a little more than 20 hours. I played the WiiU port so there were no achievements.

That's been the Alphadia games and the Kemco RPGs ported from mobile in general: Some people may call them generic, but they end up having a lot of old-school charm that becomes the initial draw while having surprisingly deep characters and worlds as they progress.

I ended up liking Alphadia Genesis quite a bit, especially later on when it completely subverts many of those generic early game tropes.

I'll definitely have to keep that in mind as I approach the game. From the expansive Western RPGs that I've seen, that seems to be a common theme. Super-expansive world, do what you want, have some quests and story if you lose focus. Aside from Minecraft, I've never really played anything like it in that sense.

Heheh. A while back I tried playing DDR regularly. It got thrown wayside once the Museca update came. Because I only play DDR casually, it's hard to rack up enough plays to get the Extra Stages unlocked. I finished Baby Lon's adventure, and from what I hear, the New Generation unlocks are barred from our region? That's pretty lame. Oh yeah, there was a Mai Mai cabinet that showed up out here a couple weeks ago, so I went to give it a couple plays. It's pretty fun, but my fingers are prone to touchscreen-burn since I haven't played many touchscreen games.

Heheh, I haven't seen that image yet, but it really sums up Bemani in every flavor.

How about this one?

Episode 4? Yeah, you should get on that. It's better than Episode 3, and Episode 3 was pretty dang good.

I haven't set up a TV at my place, but I definitely want to give it a shot. It seems like it's pretty fun to run with different character builds and develop different skills. It's also a different kind of RPG than I'm used to. It should be fun!

How've you been lately? Been keepin' up with the new DDR?

That's probably who I was thinking of. Maybe. I don't know. I'm such a dirty racist; all purple people look the same to me.

Now that you mention it, Widowmaker does kind of look like...uh...what's-her-face. Lulu? The purple girl. (Yeah, I don't know anything about League of Legends.)

I haven't actually played Overwatch myself, but I've seen plenty of videos and streams of it. It looks hella fun.

Less Picross fanaticism, and more devotion to not paying freemium junk mixed with a healthy fanaticism for Picross. Things have been pretty chill in these parts. I finally finished reading Musashi, which for some reason took a year. Also
Focusing less on my growing backlog, and focusing more on the games I want to play
