Technically an MMO that is light on story, so nothing to really "beat" Achievements: 39 / 132 (30%)

☆★★★★ An interesting take on the shooter genre. In this case, a game that actively encourages co-op (it's the default setting for all missions, instead of solo) and doesn't try to promote or develop a PvP scene. Development continues and the game has spread to all major consoles; the major hurdle remaining is cross-platform support. The game still impressively boasts a very strong freemium model, with premium currency really only needed for cosmetics.

Hey, I know I'm late, but I just saw your note about a home purchase. Congrats, man! I'm guessing you've had some time to settle in at this point and start to get a hang of what home ownership is like?

Oh wow, picked up a copy of Suikoden III?

I played through it not too long ago for the first time. Fun enough game. Not up to the standard of excellence set by the earlier titles in the series, but not nearly as bad as many people make it out to be either. Of course, I had a friend playing along with me who was able to coach me through the toughest fights, so I had an easier go of it than most, particularly with the water dragon that everyone always talks about as being one of the hardest boss fights in JRPG history. Thanks to the help I had, I was able to polish it off on the first try.

Since I don't see Suikoden or Suikoden II on your list of games, I'm gonna toss out a recommendation for Suikoden II in particular. It's a great little game that stands the test of time beautifully, and both it and the first game can be picked up as PS1 Classics on PSN, as well as other systems, I'd imagine.

Just saw you're playing SC2:LotV right now. Somehow all of the announcements about it went right past me, since I didn't even know it had a release date until the day it was released.

So, how's the conclusion to the SC2 trilogy?

I know what you mean about time being short and progress being difficult. I'm a few weeks away from being engaged, so I anticipate that my time will be in even shorter supply in the future, but I've managed to make positive (albeit minor) progress on my backlog for the last year or two, and I anticipate that I'll be break-even for this year, since Christmas left me at -1 for the year, which I still have time to fix using a game that I'm close to .

What've you been up to?

Thanks! It's the culmination of almost a year of playing, though a fair amount of that year was me just screwing around and only playing it when I was out, which wasn't often. Once I got to Fort Dragonia, it just blew up; I became completely addicted and decided that I was going to get a full set of Rainbow equipment for everyone. It's not as weird as I thought it'd be to not be playing it anymore, though; I've jumped over to Houchou Shoujou Gensokyoku with no problems. I absolutely love Chrono Cross - it's my new #5 favorite RPG of all time - but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad to finally be able to move on.
So many games... so little time.
