I didn't play Dark until the DLC had been announced I think? Demons took a while as on my first attempt I thought the game had bullshit difficulty haha. I didn't know lances were the most powerful weapon, aside from the halbred I didn't really use that sort of weapon much. I've wanted to, but I've ended up using mostly swords and axes, at least in the first Dark Souls. In Dark Souls II I tried a bunch of different stuff out. Fisticuffs is viable and incredibly fun! It's good to hear you've got a better grip on your depression/anxiety. Since I didn't go back to the school I've been suffering in that regard a bit, but I think it's just too much time to myself mostly.

The pyromancer in the sewers? You mean the lady who sells advanced pyromancy in Blighttown? That's lame. In one of my saves I ended up pissing off the first blacksmith and had to restart. Turned out my character was terrible anyway though.

For some reason I just am not very good at the newer Mega Man's. I beat all the others no problem really, outside of one of the Wily stages in Mega Man 2.

My man! Hunter's Axe was what I used throughout almost the entire game. Switched to the Tonitrus eventually though, much shorter, but hit hard and hitting L1 nonstop made it look like my character was skipping about. I saw my friend use the cane and aside from neato aesthetics it looked terribly underpowered.

I can't think of many bosses in Demons that were troublesome aside from the Monk guy, I lucked out on the Maneater fight which is pretty difficult from what I hear unless you cheese it. The archer's are definitely just a cheap bit of level design in general. What about the snakes gave you trouble? They were pretty susceptible to parrys from what I recall. I never used magic in Dark Souls I don't think aside from a few exceptions here and there. Is Ornstein and Smough the fight you're referring to? Yeah that one usually takes me a couple go's. Four Kings is another really annoying fight, especially when the next guy shows up before you've taken out the former. If you remember what was your general set up in Dark Souls? My first, and so far only finished run, was Dex with the Uchigatana.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy some of your time with Dark Souls. For me it flowed beautifully, and I actually maintained my cool a lot more than I do in other games. Different strokes I guess, I beat Manus on my first try, but I cannot beat Megaman 9 or 10 for some reason and rage quit haha.

I've always had a dark sense of humor, not sure which came first though haha.

When I first played Bloodborne I got wrecked for a while too, I'm not sure what it is about it, now that I've beaten it and have gone back to the beginning I've not had the same issues. It kind of baffles me. Glad you got back into the swing of things, I really enjoyed the ride.

Which weapon are you using? The game lends itself to pretty fast paced combat with the right weapon. I'd suggest hunting the Witch down first, much easier fight AND unlocks essentially rings for your character.

What were you frustrated with in Dark Souls? For me Demon's Souls gave me a lot of grief, but I can't think of much in Dark that did more than annoy me at points. It certainly had really annoying parts (Blighttown, that one part of Anor Londor with the two archer pricks). I totally understanding getting mad at a game and accidentally taking it out on others. If I start losing in a competitive game I'm immediately swearing and getting down on myself. I really don't enjoy competitive games for that reason haha.

I think all the messed up-ness is why I'm interested in LISA.

How are you liking Bloodborne? And have you played the earlier Souls titles?

Thanks for replying anyway! It's more for the costume that comes with it, but I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the recommendation! Sounds interesting, I'll look into it.

Also, is Lisa worth playing? I think I see that in your header. Which I like a lot by the way.

Yeah, the point of games isn't to cause grief, it's to cause fun.

But it's just... it would take 15 years for me to finish my backlog if I stopped buying games. About 20 years if I factor in the fact that i'm buying games if I stick to a "1 new game per 4 games beaten" rule...

and if i don't stick to any rule, it might take me 25 years?

I mean, i end up buying more games than i beat every month...

OH WELL.

I know the Persona series is very popular, but I never gave it a chance. Heard good things, but I don't think I'll ever play them.

Yeah, you don't want to get burnt out by playing the same kind of game so soon... I'm usually playing 2-3 games from different genres at the same time. I'm trying to squeeze Ultima 7 between Dead Space, GTA and Battlefield, but as you know, RPGs are the great time devourers

Wait! I just noticed... did you already finish Hotline Miami 2??

I appreciate your comment, fellow game bro. Besides choosing my games better, I'm also sometimes switching from single player to co-op, so I can enjoy them with my gf -even though she's not very good at 'em, haha- starting w/beat'em ups and platformers It's a hobby after all. Gotta share & have fun!

Having said that, how're your current games treating you? (Hotline 2 is very high on my wishlist; 1st one was so damn good)

The holidays were okay to me. Didn't get sick despite a lot of people getting the flu right and left. I got vol 1 and 2 of Deadman Holiday from the library. It seems like a strange premise but I hope the hero gets better. Gurren is such a trip though. You may enjoy it just from the spectal of it all. Any game you excited about from the steam sale?

Thanks for the feedback.

The scoring system is intentionally abstract because i think it's silly to assign numbers to enjoyment of games.

My holidays were okay. I worked mostly and only got an extra 200 hundred due to taxes. I spent it mostly on presents for wife and kid. I did go crazy on the steam sale. Sorry to hear about the infection in your hand. I know it won't go away too quickly though.

I've been binging on Fairy Tail right now. I got through 104 episodes until someone started ddosing Crunchyroll.

Take care

Sounds good, good luck figuring that all out! My buddy and I might start making game related videos for youtube soonish, I'm fairly excited for it if it happens. Film and video games are two of my biggest passions so it's perfect for me haha.

Thanks! I'm just taking college because base level work hasn't panned out for me, I'm not really sure what I want to do. I'm tempted to take up welding again just for that cashflow, but I'm deathly afraid of cancer/going blind so... haha. I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'm in pretty much the same boat as everybody else.

That's fantastic you're pushing yourself to do the things you enjoy. I'm trying to do the same.

It's a great show! I'm also happy to find another English speaking fan, they're pretty rare, at least as far as I can tell. I don't even remember how long ago I found about the show, but early last year I finally found subs and watched like... one hundred episodes straight. I always recommend it to my gaming buddies.

You've gotten further than me in Advance Wars then, I usually get about halfway through and just get overwhelmed by the difficulty with just a couple tries and don't touch the game again for so long I just restart. I'm pretty smart but strategy games just don't click with me, it bums me out.

The Radiance games (GCN/Wii) are WAY expensive and I don't really recommend them as a first go at the series, Awakening really is the easiet way to get into the series (difficulty options, including turning perma-death off) and the first one released in English plays fast and has a good tutorial bit to play through to get a feel for the game. As for being a console guy over portables, I hear ya, but the console FE's are really not worth it unless you find them cheap or are for sure a fan of the series. You could always play via a Gameboy Player on GCN!

Glad to hear. I'm finally starting college come January hopefully. Just waiting on financial aid to go through. I've been writing about games a lot too, which I figure any writing is good writing even if not many people read it. I wish I had a talent for music, I envy those with a knack for it. Link me to your youtube? Congrats on working out! I hope to make that a new year's resolution that I actually stick to this year hah.

Fire Emblem is pretty fun, but it can be stressful. Perma-death is a core feature of the series, but I don't like letting anybody die, so it gets tedious for me. If I let a few units die it probably wouldn't be taking me so long to beat one of them. I've played four now and haven't beaten any of them. They are your standard turn based strategy games pretty much. If you like that genre I'd definitely recommend checking it out. The original (well original English) one and Awakening are the two I'd probably recommend. Also, Advance Wars is quite different but if you haven't played that I highly recommend it as well!

Game Center is amazing, did we already talk about this? Arino is so entertaining to watch. There's a site with a huge collection of subbed GCCX which I haven't watched in a while actually... Might change that soon.
