Pocky & Rocky club represent! I can't seem to get good at it but I can see how it can be a good game! The remake is supposed to be even better.

What if MAD Magazine did a parody called Pocky & Rocky & Bullwinkle? Or maybe Final Fantasy Football?

How was Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, man? Would you recommend it? No way I'm dropping $175+ on eBay for the SNES cart.

I'm open to people who are well-voised in classic gaming. Your expansive NES and Genesis collection gave it away. Honestly, I shoulda added ya years ago.

Eastern Hyrule: that should be all the argument anyone needs for why Zelda 2 was at least interesting. You had such exotic flora and fauna, lava fields, A PALACE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN, and that's to say nothing of the strange towns you find out there. I recently saw the map for Breath of the Wild, which is hailed as the biggest Zelda game yet... and it still stops with Death Mountain at the north, expanding east and west a bit. I think the only other time you see Eastern Hyrule is in Wind Waker, because the Great Palace had all those eagle knights, which the Rito people resemble, not to mention that it's on top of a volcano, and there's at least one piece of furniture that's shaped like the tops of the columns in their village, but since the whole game is underwater, you can't really be sure.

I feel the same way about retranslations that I do about remakes of old songs: at least do as well as the original, and only make it if you're going to do something interesting or fix what's broken; I see a lot of retranslations of games that don't need them. I do also see retranslations of games that do need them, like Final Fantasy 7 and Breath of Fire 2, and I usually check those out. I'm a linguist, but I'm not so fussy as to insist that this particular word over that one makes a huge difference, because these are stories about people interacting, and people are generally not that precise with their lexical features. They are works of fiction, yes, but they are meant to convey the interaction of 2 actual people.

I had actually forgotten that that was the only other patch for the game; I was hoping to find something a bit more interesting. I guess it's to match the music in that part of the game... I love EVO, but most of the good music it has is recycled from old Dragon Warrior games. But yes, I had a chuckle, too, because you know SOMEONE is clamoring for this because censorship is evil. Now, I'm not fan of censorship, but that is a battle against it just for its own sake.

NOBODY minded Woolsey until the Internet happened, and then he became the greatest villain the industry has ever known. Same with Zelda 2: nobody had a problem with it until the Internet. Back in the day, Woolsey was the only one writing scripts that sounded like an actual human spoke them; some have aged better than others, because IT'S THE '90S, DUDE; 'TUDE TO THE MAXXXXXX!!! but it was a huge step forward for video games in general. What was anyone else doing to push that envelope? Capcom having characters say damn in a couple of games? The guy had 30 days to translate the game, and because his translation was too good, it was too big, and he had to redo it twice, so that's like 10 days for each translation. OF FINAL FANTASY 6. Even then, it was miles better than what we got for 7. That's very true; I remember watching my cousin play something, and his character said, "Get out of here, Fuck Bag!" Fuck... bag? Was this written by a 13-year-old, whose just now old enough to get away with saying the fuck word? Come on; ADULTS wrote that, reviewed it, and everyone said, "Yeah, let's go with that."

Final Fantasy 5 was one of the worst with it; I'd already figured out the layer thing, but there wasn't any way to disable them in a way that wouldn't also hide the actual path, so brute force was the option: singular. I'm not sure if I remember that from Seiken Densetsu 3, because by then, I'd figured everything out, but I know that Secret of Mana has some thick-ass clouds in its forest that were a real pain without transparencies. Luckily, I'd already known that area better than my own backyard, so I got through that one.

Oh yeah, and my brain is wired in such a way that making lists is hard for me, because I can't... think of everything, for lack of a better way to put it. It didn't even occur to me to look for Genesis stuff until I'd been emulating for years, all the while, I was looking everywhere for Castle/World of Illusion and Quackshot. It was a lot less overwhelming, though, and it felt more like your were exploring something, rather than just checking games off a list, because full sets exist now.

Me, too, and I might've been one of only 2 people to ever see it! Beyond even that, what could those other 2 markers have been for? Even RHDN only has one hack of the game, and it's to fix typos and add in piles of dinosaur shit. Thanks.
