How's the 360 controller for playing PSIV? I got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3 myself, and I've had no problems with it. Obviously no substitute for the original black monster of a Genesis controller, but it works.

Man, Mystic Ark has such interesting worlds. The black & white one, that one where the fat guys have to eat the huge watermelon to expand the town... downright trippy. You really don't see that kind of creativity in games too often, modern or classic.

@Marta- It's a pet peeve of mine when it comes to video games. I just don't think it's vitally necessary to add voice acting simply because the technology allows for it in this day and age.

Take some games on the PS1 like Revolations: Persona and Star Ocean 2 which had only minimal voice acting during the battle scenes or what little CG it had. Then suddenly, they remake and bring both of those games back out for PSP some 10 years later. Is it *really* necessary to add tons of voice?

And in the case of Eternal Sonata, I didn't play it a whole lot, but from what little of that game that I was willing to sit through, EVERYTHING was voiced and it just didn't feel like a console RPG should. So I guess I'll just stick with my classics until they start making some more Gilliam-friendly games.

And that's my two cents on that issue!

Hey, how's it going, Gilliam. It's great to see someone who appreciates the greatness that is Ultima. I'll take you up on your offer to do some adventuring on UO once I get a new copy of the game.

Yeah, Caesar II is a great game, although it's been ages since I played the game. I used to love historical strategy/simulation games like that and some others like Civilization, Castles II, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Genghis Khan on the consoles.

By the way, Marta showed me that picture that was only about 10% of your collection. One word: amazing.

Basically, I just don't like the "style" to Level 5's games. To me, Dragon Quest VIII, as I've mentioned before in my LiveJournal comments on previous entries felt like it was "Dark Cloud meets Dragon Quest". Maybe I don't have the words to explain how I feel about their games.

Granted, I've never tried Rogue Galaxy and I've heard Jeanne D'Arc was actually pretty good. But I do hope that Square-Enix reconsiders who their handing development responsibilities to when it comes to future DQ games being made.

I guess part of the reason I feel so strongly is that I'm who you might consider a long-time Enix fan, as I'm sure you in particular already know. I still have existing issues of Enix America's "Warrior World" newsletter and got e-mails from Slib the Slime back when their website started. So when it comes down to myself and the Drakee, we're very close bonded. Get my drift?

I love the UGS, even if only a few dozen people know it exists.

I actually bought my Wii at launch back in 2006, there just hasn't been much on the system that appeals to my rather hardcore tastes. Even with the Ultimate Shooter Collection, I still play with the classic controller. Hate to admit it, but I'm just not crazy about the concept of the Wii. It's too... different. =/

Although~ I will say that Muramasa: The Demon Blade looks promising...

And for the record, 99% of my games listed here are legitimate pieces of software that I own. Only burned games I have are some Duo games which cost insane amounts of money like Sylphia, Kaze Kiri, etc.

Also, I own *lots* of games that aren't listed here. Like hundreds and hundreds more. I just tend to list the stuff that I feel like including on this Backloggery and have something to say about them.

Wait, so did you really get a Wii for just one retail game game and one Wiiware game ? Or did you play those games through... "other means" .

Nah, that's not weird at all. Finding friends through friends is one of the main ways to find friends, and I said friends a lot just now, but it's all good.

Esuna, eh? I generally can't play as solo mages and probably would have gotten my ass kicked. But she makes for an excellent support character to Wilme. I need to stop being so lethargic about the game and put more time into it though.

Also, the colors of your page hurt the eyes a bit.

You should track down DemiKids: Dark Version. Much harder, and cooler things happen(Lucifer joins you!).

And I was also on the Persona train when Revelations first came out. I think it was up there with FFVII and FFT as one of the first RPGs I played on the PS1.

Though I only finally beat it a year or so ago before P3 came out... the final dungeon is tough as nails.

You've played the Valis games as well. Nice. I have Valis 3 and Super Valis 4. I was never able to find Valis 1 or 2. Just as Valis has a place in your heart, SV4 has a place in mine. I can agree that SV4 wasn't phenomenal, but you are also right about the music. Although my absolute favorite is Castle Vanity. If there is ever a remix made from this game, that's the one I would love hear. It's good to see somebody else enjoyed playing those games. How did you first get into them?
