Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I dig... I kinda do remember the days of pre-good internet walkthroughs of games. I can't say I miss them since I'll admit that I've used them for some games (especially older ones that aren't very clear about what you're supposed to do next, like the Goonies 2 for example, which is a great game, but suffers from lack of direction for the player on finding some key items). I remember playing FF8 a long time ago, but never beat it since that game's mechanics felt really weird and confusing to me since I was used to FF7's more direct mechanics at the time. I feel like I should give it another go since I'm older and can understand complex stuff more for the most part. FF7 is pretty alright from what I remember, though... I LOVE the soundtrack for it to the point where I have it on my phone along with the soundtracks for Final Fantasies 4, 6, 9, and Super Mario RPG. A lot of those songs hold up if you ask me, but that might be a lot of nostalgia talking.

Honestly, I don't blame you for using a Game Genie (or even save states if you played on an emulator) for Zelda 2. If/when I ever give it another shot, I'll probably end up cheating, too, since the game over system of having you restart at the first temple/castle/whatever place is pretty brutal where the other games just restart you at the beginning of the dungeon you died in, or the spawn point (or points depending on which Zelda you're playing) in the overworld (which isn't as bad as it sounds since that usually happens if you die in the overworld itself).

Also, sorry for keeping you from getting your sleep when you wrote your response. I hope the soccer practice went well!

Well, I dunno. I've never been into anime in the slightest, and I always kind of pegged Pokemon as something only anime people dig. Sort of like Dragonball-Z (something else I've never experienced.) I also thought it was just meant for young children for a long time too. Playing it now, I can see why kids would enjoy it with all the color and different monsters (plus very tame to nonexistent levels of violence, which parents no doubt approve of).

Not gonna lie, I went in with low expectations but I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. It's got all the right things I like about JRPGs - combat has a bit of depth as you build teams of different Pokemon with different skills, but it's not too overly convoluted like some JRPGs are nowadays. And the collecting aspect is fun too. I can see how that element hooks people.

So yeah, I could possibly be on my way to becoming a fledgling Pokemon fan.

Yeah, I was kinda excited for Halo 3 being free as well since (like I said in my last post) I haven't played much of any of the Halo games between the original on the old Xbox and Reach on the 360 (which I got the limited edition for $20 at my local Wal-Mart since it was on clearance, which I'm sure were reserved copies nobody picked up). If you have a chance to play it, Reach is pretty good. The campaign takes place shortly before Halo 1, so you do get some backstory about what happened before the first game. The multiplayer is really good, though, despite the fact that I sucked balls at it when I was into it (probably because everyone I played against was playing the game for a lot longer than me ), but it was still fun when I wasn't getting sniped every five seconds. :P

Also, I'm even more surprised that you've only beaten the first two Zeldas. You really should get on playing the rest of the series since they (aside from the infamous CD-I games I've never played) are all pretty good in their own unique ways (although I think Link to the Past on the SNES/GBA, Ocarina of Time on the N64/3DS, Majora's Mask on the N64/soon to be 3DS, and Link Between Worlds on the 3DS are the best ones, but that's just me and likely the rest of the internet who has played a lot of the Zelda games). Although, I think Zelda 1 is still a pretty good game despite the fact that I played it long long long after it originally came out. I've tried Zelda 2 a few times throughout the years, but I could never really get into it. I don't think it's a bad game, but it seems really tough compared to even the first game. I would love to actually beat it someday, though...

Oh wow... I'm kinda surprised that there's someone in the world who hasn't played a Halo game until now (if you don't count multiplayer, which I'm sure a lot of people wasted their time with friends in similarly to GoldenEye 64).

To be fair, I haven't played every game in the series. I've only beaten Halo 1 on the original Xbox and Halo Reach (the latter of which was pretty good from what I remember), but have played tiny bits of Halo 2 with my older brother, and of Halo 3 with my nephew. Halo 3 seems pretty good from the little I played with my nephew (aka the coolest kid in the universe since he's totally into video games like I'm sure most kids are, but he's my nephew, so he automatically ranks number one in my book since he's super awesome compared to most kids I've come across in my life), and I do have it when I got it free when it was a 'Free with Xbox LIVE Gold' game. So, I have no reason not to play through it and see how it is.

You're welcome! :D Smooth McGroove is quite awesome at what he does and his songs make great driving/working outside the computer music. Brentalfloss is alright, but the few songs of his I've heard were kinda funny the first time and that was really it. :/

That's pretty cool that you're finally starting to get to work on your backlog when you have a few hours to kill a day. It's also cool that you're a stay-at-home dad since that's a pretty big job itself, especially when your child is very little. That's what my dad did when my brothers and I were growing up since he was retired (he was a few years older than my mom) while my mom was at work.

I know how you feel about having a huge backlog (especially now that I have an actual job and don't have as much time for gaming).

I've heard the remake is alright, but I guess a lot of people feel that $15 is a little steep for how much you get. I guess there are a lot of unlockables like art and music, but you have to play through it multiple times to get enough money to buy everything. I've heard the Moon theme from the remake, and while it's good, I do wish they could've used this version instead.
