Yeah, I can relate. Most of my school career was surrounded by people like that. I don't really talk to anyone at college like that though, it's weird to see how the elitist type cynical gamers behave when you don't need to deal with them on a social basis. They're kinda just not nice people a lot of the time and don't respect one's interests.

But I'll fight anyone who talkin down to Starfox Zero, I'm excited for the same reasons that other people are hating on it, it's literally made for the people who loved Starfox 64 (which is the majority of Starfox players). I'm so pumped.

Yeah I just don't like how smartphone games feel maybe it's the lack of buttons, maybe it's the lack of a control stick, but I just can't play them without feeling uncomfortable. Nice one with the Sonic though. On a related note, I'm still curious as to when something new will come out, they seem to be focusing on marketing Boom right now and don't want to focus as much on the traditional stuff. Honestly just give me an updated Chao Garden and I'll be good for a long while though.

Admittedly it's just psychological. At this point I just hope the wait is worth it and that at E3 it really wows everyone again.

Kimishima's restructuring really rubs me the wrong way, though in all honesty it's probably just some distrust I have ever since learning about the whole Nintendo Software Technology thing where they "restructured" and it basically ended up being a demotion for everyone working there because the higher-ups in NoJ were fighting with them.

It was more that Iwata was someone who was demonstrated to be exceedingly capable, having extensive experience in game development in addition to running the company in a personable manner, you can trust that anything he worked on/supervised was gonna be quality. So because the development and formation of the machine (assuming it's a machine and not a genetically engineered lifeform that can load video games because we still know nothing about NX) were in the hands of a capable fellow, I know it'll be worth it.

I just don't find smartphone games ideal for me. I can't get used to playing tetris on the darn thing. The new smartphone games will probably be fine. But I don't see myself getting immersed in a smartphone game.

On the note of Fire Emblem though, upon further reflection I think Fates is kind of... weak. The story in particular is lacking. It's very weird because it's got a very colorful cast with their own quirks and everything, but I keep losing motivation to finish the story in Revelation. And this is coming from me who clocked in around 1000 hours on awakening and loves sacred stones, the weird one (in america, that is) more than any other game in the series.

I'm kind of a downer tonight. Sorry. I am super looking forward to when Finals is over though, Starfox Zero seems like just what I need right now, I hear it's like a love letter to fans of SF64. Thinking about that gets me pumped!

I haven't completely lost faith in their ability to improve it yet, but I'm really not feeling the idea of them delaying it just for NX. If I knew they were gonna improve it I'd be fine, but I dunno, under Kimishima it seems like they're trying for a more cold hearted and calculating approach to game development and release. I got pokemon to look forward to this year, but that's about it. E3 better be a zelda wonderland, otherwise it just won't sell the same.

Of course, this also adds onto the fact that, if the NX isn't a game changer out of the gate, it's gonna perform worse than the WiiU because Nintendo hasn't revealed anything beyond "it plays games". If it's just a normal nintendo console with a unique controller again, it won't bode well that they've missed out on press time. It can't succeed without public (and more importantly, press) approval. Of course, I'm going to buy it anyway, primarily because Iwata supervised it initially. But I want to see it succeed.

On the topic of restructuring, it's usually because a company is going through some tough stuff, or they think it's the calm before the storm. Admittedly it may not be, but Kimishima needs to prove himself because the vibe I'm getting from him thus far leaves me wary. Yamauchi was a business man, but he demonstrated himself to be a capable leader in addition to being able to consistently please the consumer. Iwata was the kind of guy perfect to run a company like Nintendo, so Yamauchi chose him. I get that Kimishima has had experience leading the pokemon company and Nintendo of America, but I'm still not sure he's the best choice. I suppose time will tell.

You're right in that I'll probably try it, but I don't know, smartphone controls don't feel good in my hands. I need buttons man.

I just need something to make me feel that special Nintendo feel, you know? There's a certain love and charm that goes into Nintendo games. I feel like the first party games on Nintendo this console cycle have been stellar. Among my favorites. I need something to show me they know what they're doing right now.

Oh haha, by that I meant the age old practice of buying the game twice to trade without needing other people

Of course, I did buy the game twice and will use it just for that... But I wanted my main file to be completed the intended way

Well, trading with a friend, of course!

I got blue, he got red, and we organized to complete the pokedex.

That also involved him restarting the game like 5 times to get the starters for both of us (plus the extra Eevee to get the last eeveelution). But I got us tauros, kangaskhan and porygon.

Indeed, when you can, that is. Also, the Spycicle could be considered a middle finger to Pyros. You lose your knife for 15 Seconds after a Pyro lights you up unless you can get access to ammo packs, but for most of that time, you're immune to Afterburn. Just hope they aren't a W+M1 Pyro, but those are always annoying regardless of the situation.
