So, I actually loved the original Evolution. I thought the randomized dungeons were very enjoyable and even though it is not very deep and can be a bit repetitive, I had a great time with it. So, I am very excited to play Evolution 2. I heard that there aren't as many randomized dungeons as the main ones are kind of set, but there is a randomized tower that you can go to to grind for skills and levels. So far, it is very much like a direct sequel to the first with the same characters and everything.

Rebirth story was ok, but the game is super bloated and loves wasting your time. like a lot.

I've heard the name "Tengai Makyo" in my limited exposure to retro Japanese titles, and I was wondering if that is one of the series that we never got, or is it the Japanese name of something we actually did?

I'm probably just a little insane in attempting simultaneous series runs of Grandia *and* Tengai Makyo but here we go haha. Those should definitely keep me busy for quite a while

Yeah, I watched Macaw45 play Genocide 1 and 2 a while back and I put it on my 'to play list'. I learn a lot about relatively unknown but awesome Japanese games from his streams. Genocide 1's audio-visual preentation is out of control, it is so amazing. And remember that little Guile-looking dude, fighting our giant mech, how cool is that?! BTW, who was he? I though 'MESIA' was protected by robots, not people... Guess I'll watch playthroughs of other versions, there seems to be more story bits in X68000 and TGCD versions.

Aaaand I beat the first Genocide on Normal difficulty in about 2 hours. It was fun and amazing although jank of course but I enjoyed it. I had no real problem with it apart from the last boss which took 4 or 5 tries. Mind you, the FM Towns version is re-balanced and it is easier than the initial release.
